Kirk Douglas makes appeal for drug-dealing grandson

Veteran film star Kirk Douglas has asked a US judge to give his grandson a lenient sentence for drug-dealing.

The 93-year-old said in letters submitted to court that he wanted to see Cameron - the son of actor Michael - turn his life around "before I die".

The 31-year-old's stepmother Catherine Zeta Jones also expressed her support in a letter, calling him "a considerate, worthy human being".

Douglas faces a minimum prison sentence of 10 years for dealing Class A drugs.

If I was the judge, I'd make him attend court.....and see if he even knew who his grandson was.

He looks a lot like Michael, so ask him to tell the difference.

Actually, ask Catherine to tell the difference.

I think Kirk will live to see in 2011, but will shuffle off his mortal coil sometime in Spring.

How on earth does this thread not contain any sly references to Natalie Wood and the concept of no meaning no?

Probably because it has no bearing on if he'll die soon or not.

I think the controversy over her death in 1981, involving Christopher Walken and Robert Wagner was more potent...

Dunno, I'm sure RA allocates some points for it in his spreadsheet.

You're right - 2 points - "got a swimming pool" - but I have yet found the time to really apportion points to all the famous people with swimming pools - guess it's going to be over a quarter of list! - but in two cases I've put 2 points on Micheal Barrymore's score and 4 point for Paddy Roy Bates, he, the head of the nation of Sealand (dirty great lookout post thing off the North Sea coast)

I must be mad!

PS

Oh, that's 3 points for "a bit mad"

then again I could award myself 5 points for "compulsive disorder"

but I'm sure I'm not yet "insane" - that's 6 points.

PPS

I think it's the vodka!

PPPS

that's 5 points for "AA"

1940: The Associated Press is reporting that [student] protesters in London have attacked a car carrying the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. The BBC has not confirmed the report.

Even the last photo of "Old Spartacus" ended up in his son's thread, I've made an attemp to get this one posted correctly.

Happy Birthday Mr Douglas - 94 today!

Paddy Roy Bates hasn't actually lived on Sealand for quite a bit. He retired to Spain a few years ago leaving Roughs Tower in the hands of caretakers.

If he lives in Spain now then there's a good chance he owns a swimming pool. It could be so ironic if he drowns in a 8m x 3m area of water, rarther than all the time he lived 50m above the English Channel.

Kirk is in competition with his son Michael on the 2011 DL. Is this the first time that a father & son have been on the list together? Unusual, but sad....

if Kirk Douglas takes as long to die as he did to present the Oscar award tonight you've got a few years to hang around yet! :deathban:

Judging by how he looked I'd say it shouldn't take him long to die really

Kirk is still among the living but looks like he died in 1999. And Mikey looks like he's only 5-10 years younger than his dad.

Appeared on Bill Maher's show this week. Seemed physically spritely and agile, but his speaking is almost unintelligable.
