I got a warning for looking at porn.

Wouldn't be so bad but I didn't even get to see the porn. I'm on dial up, I closed the link before it fully opened.

Mmm.

Discussing & joking about people in the public eye- okay.

Ditto about little children in the public eye- suddenly not okay.

It's an uncomfortable one, I'll give you that, but I can't see why certain mods are getting themselves into such a tizz. Well, actually I can, as they are obviously keen to avoid too much bad publicity and possible legal action etc. But, I don't see any need for warnings to be issued over this.

It's all down to personal opinion at the end of the day, which is the main reason why this forum thrives- because most of us hold opinions that are slightly off centre.

I personally think the locked thread was very ill advised, but don't see why Dave/Iain should be vilified for it. We all say things we wish we hadn't with the benefit of hindsight.

BTW- I have to say that I totally agree with Windsor's post in that thread- I was scratching my head the head the other afternoon when I went to buy the paper, wondering why so many were wearing yellow. A quick look at the front page of the Sun answered that, but it left me puzzled over people's mentality. What possible difference would it make & like the girl's parents were going to give a sh*t what colour The Sun readers were wearing. Personally I blame Diana's death & the resulting hype & wailing.

Still, needless to say, I really hope the little girl is found safe & well. Every parent's worse nightmare, although I still can't get past the fact that they left their kids alone while they went for a meal. It's obviously a side issue at the moment, with people not wishing to be branded heartless for commenting, but I still find it unbelievable. It's like me leaving my kids alone while I nip across the road for a pint. I'd be condemned for it, but then I'm not middle class I suppose.

Cheers,

BHB

Hmmm, do you think the dad treats his heart patients like that?

Perhaps if the poster had been a valued member who is known for his quick wit and his amusing and interesting posts, the reaction may have been different, but since the person who created the thread was a complete idiot called iain/dave who is at best tedious, more often than not annoying and persistently stupid, I consider the warning appropriate.

I wouldn't say the mods are in a tizz about anything, because we aren't. But I suspect we aren't the only ones who aren't devastated that dave/iain seems to have buggered off.

As far as I care we can discuss anything as long as it's not done too disrespectfully. I just don't fancy the ranters we would get with a thread like that. All it takes is one guest to post something stupid and we are all tarred with the same brush.

Yep, that all sounds fair enough to me.

Scientology is a brain-washing cult, and all its celebrity supporters are dribbling, cretinous, gullible clagnuts.

I still have ringing in my ears from school, "Boy you should be reading litrature, not litter", after being caught reading the Sun in the english class.

Just as well I got out the habit, it seems it's just saved my life

Well, it's like all the people praying for that child. Not going to make any difference, but it makes them feel better because they think they're contributing in some way.

Spot on. I also agree with MPFC about the parents. The enevitable sentimentality surrounding this affair should not distract from the awkward questions regarding possible parental misconduct....

If this was a chavvy family on a Benidorm jaunt, the sh*t would be poured over them by the chattering classes....

and what's wrong with Benidorm?????:lol:

Having lived & worked in both resorts, Benidorm & Praia de Luz, I know which one I prefer, and it isn't bloody, overpriced, over-rated & overly dull Portugal.

I'm also stupified at the parent's conduct, as we'd never, as a holiday company, advise that, but I'm not so sufficiently outraged or concerned as long as she is found alive & well & we can go back to normality & proper news items like Russia supplying Burma with nuclear material is at the top of the news and this at the bottom.

No. What you say there is true, and your saying it here in no way brings deathlist.net into disrepute.

Bring 'em on, the cretinous gullible ranting clangnuts!

I got accosted by a Scientologist in Bournemouth once. Their opening line of "Could I just ask you a few questions" was followed by "What one thing would make you happier in life?". Apparently the answer "You pissing off and leaving me alone" wasn't the one they were looking for - I'll expect a entourage of cars outside my house any day now.......

I think it's fair what the mod has done, why talk children on a forum like this, it may look like bad taste, even if it is not meant that way.

I happy for it to be a kid free zone!

Having watched the John Sweeney / Panorama doc last night, I fully expect a lawsuit heading my way within hours.

Awesome wasn't it, no surprise that their page on the Wikipedia has been the subject of more vandalism - both in praise of and against - than almost any other. One thing grabbed me about that show, the author of the critical biography of L Ron Hubbard, a book called 'Bare Faced Messiah' my copy is on it's way as a one-click Amazon order as we speak. I'm guessing L Ron got them digging dirt on the enemy cos he expected there to be serious dirt on everyone, based on his own experience.

I'll let yers know.

Hey, Dodge! I drove past you on the M56 last night. A bright yellow hearse with your logo on the side is not difficult to spot!
