Hmmmm 'hunts' covered by this thread?

Could go in plenty but this will do.

Jane Goring aged 57. Was facing jail for whipping a hunt saboteur (pics in link) and now dies falling off her horse.

Effort.

UK Showjumper Tim Stockdale dies fairly rapidly of stomach cancer:

https://www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/tim-stockdale-showjumper-dies-670768

Edit: Statement from a month ago:

"We would like to announce that I will taking a short break from riding as I have been diagnosed with stomach cancer this week. It’s important to focus on getting over this obstacle before we make plans for the future."

Didn't even notice he made a joke - well, apart from the "short break".

Pat Smullen is recovering from having a tumour removed.  The nine-time champion flat jockey was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and underwent surgery on the tumour six weeks ago.
Apparently some minor post-op complications but he seems in good spirits.
Strike his name from 2019 lists.

God.....DAMMIT!!  ANOTHER sleeper pissed away.
Australian horse trainer extraordinaire, Bill Doughty, dies of prostate cancer at 76.  Was in palliative care during the week, and out training winners on the track during the weekend (in Oct).
They even named Ascot race #3 after him a couple weeks ago.

muthafucka, I can't have anything nice.  Humph!

Only days before two of the biggest events on its schedule, Santa Anita on Tuesday suspended racing at least through this weekend — the announcement coming hours after the 21st horse fatality at the track since Dec. 26.

“In whole, we feel confident in the track and we're just being very proactive,” said Tim Ritvo, chief operating officer of the Stronach Group, which owns and operates Santa Anita. “We want to do all the testing that needs to be done. When we believe we're in good shape, we'll start to train over it again.”  The move will force the postponement of the Santa Anita Handicap, a lucrative race for older horses, and the San Felipe Handicap, a major prep race for 3-year-olds trying to qualify for the Kentucky Derby. Both were scheduled for Saturday.

The fatalities became very public less than two weeks ago when two horses, including 2017 Breeders’ Cup winner Battle Of Midway, died while training on a Saturday morning. Since then, two horses have died during training and one during racing.

Two more horses have died since then, including one this past weekend.
