Half Time at the Cowboys and 49ers game, Dwight Clark is being honoured.  Is it maybe because he only has a few months left ?

Um no dumbass he has ALS, and until he is in a wheelchair with a tube to breathe through, he's got plenty of time.  Even THEN they seem to last a few years.   So him being at the stadium not in a wheelchair says he has at least 3+ years.

Someone tell Sir Creep there are several different strands of ALS/MND which attack in several different ways/have varying life expectancies. Gordon Aikman was still chatting sans tube about a month before his death, for example.

We haven't had a Chris Mortensen update in a while. So here's an interesting but long read from last month.

TL/DR version: his Stage IV throat cancer has spread to his lungs, but is being treated...for now...

If you want a Mortenson update, he's on TV all the time during football season, including last night's MNF game halftime.

Former New England Patriots coach Ron Meyer, who might be best remembered for his role in the 1982 “snowplow” game, has died, it was announced Tuesday. He was 76.

Meyer was coach at SMU when the Pony Express received the death penalty, which took them from a top 10 program to still trying to recover this many years later (I think they went to their first bowl game since then just a year or two ago).  ESPN 30-For-30 film, well worth the watch.  Eric Dickerson, et.al.

Tommy Nobis, NFL player for the Atlanta Falcons (1966-1976), has died aged 74. He played in the Pro Bowl in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1970 and 1972, as well as being chosen as the NFL Rookie of the Year in 1966.

Pete Brown, co-founder of the Cincinnati Bengals, has died aged 74. He receives a Daily Mail obituary through the wires, so his brother Mike Brown (82) who owns the Cincinnati Bengals might be worth noting.

Wow tough day for the NFL.  Maybe Patrick Bowlen and his alzheimer's announced today?  Would be a coup for me.

Very timely -- Ezra Castro (38), aka 'Pancho Billa', the most recognizable Buffalo Bills fan out there, has stage 4 cancer, but before he dies at least gets to see his team die first in the playoffs they haven't been to in nearly two decades.

Terry Glenn, NFL player for the New England Patriots (1996-2001), Green Bay Packers (2002) and the Dallas Cowboys (2003-2007), has died in a car accident aged 43.

Edit: Daily Mail, Daily MirrorThe Guardian obituaries.

Glenn's toxicology report after his fatal crash showed Glenn had marijuana in his system and his blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. Toxicology tests reveal he was impaired with a .165 BAC. Police also found a marijuana grinder and bottle in the crash wreckage. Glenn's cause of death is listed as an "accident" due to blunt force trauma.

Former Calgary Stampeder Jerry Keeling, who quarterbacked the team to the 1971 Grey Cup title, has died. He was 78.

Keeling – known as “Bones” to his teammates because of his slender build – joined the Stampeders in 1961 after a standout career at the University of Tulsa.

Now after Keeling over, he will REALLY be known as Bones.

Updating:

If anyone remembers his short and abysmal run as a sort of Mean Gene type in the WWE a decade ago, it was obvious something was up even then. Stumbling over names, struggling to form sentences. He was getting mocked at the time too.  And now we're a decade on from that.

Former Alabama Crimson Tide pass rush specialist Jeremy Nunley, a part of one of the most heralded defensive lines in Alabama football history, has died at the of 46. Nunley, a native of Tennessee, suffered a heart attack Monday night.

Jeremy Nunley was an All-SEC defensive lineman in 1993. He was taken in the second round of the NFL Draft and went on to play professionally for the Houston Oilers and Carolina Panthers.

He later went into the pharmaceutical business in Tuscaloosa.

I'm thinking that last sentence has a lot to do with his demise.  Time will tell.

And the Alabame Crimson Tide is in the news again 10 days later.

Sutton, a quarterback from 1984-88, was in need of a kidney transplant in 2011.  Sutton was the last Alabama true freshman to start at quarterback before Jalen Hurts did it in 2016.

Over four seasons, Sutton played in 21 games. He completed 92 of 215 passing attempts for 1,102 yards for 10 touchdowns with 13 interceptions.  After completing his eligibility at Alabama, Sutton moved home to LaGrange and became a lieutenant at the county jail.
