Kwamie Lassiter, the former Arizona safety who had four interceptions in the Cardinals’ season-ending victory that clinched a playoff berth in 1998, died Sunday. He was 49.

The Cardinals announced Lassiter’s death without providing details. Arizona Sports, the website of the team’s flagship radio station, said Lassiter had a heart attack while working out.

Lassiter had had eight interceptions in 1998, the last four against San Diego to help the Cardinals reach the playoffs for the first time since moving to Arizona. The former Kansas player had nine interceptions in 2001 and was named an alternate to the Pro Bowl.  After eight seasons with the Cardinals, Lassister played for San Diego in 2003 and St. Louis in 2004. He had 25 career interceptions, 25 with the Cardinals, returning two for touchdowns.

Julius Campbell Jr., a former Virginia high school football star depicted in the movie "Remember the Titans," has died at age 65.

The Washington Post reports Campbell died Jan. 25 of organ failure. Cathy Campbell confirmed her husband's death to the newspaper, calling him a "kind, compassionate human being."

After Alexandria high schools integrated, upperclassmen attended T. C. Williams High School in 1971. The movie portrayed the Titans' success that season amid the city's racial tensions, as they won the Virginia AAA state championship.

Coach Herman Boone says Campbell helped persuade teammates who never spoke to kids from another race to talk with each other.

Bah the Vikings are the team I hate the most.  That said, Wilson was a fairly decent player for a few years.  Sorry to hear his passing.

News from Sir Creep's alma mater.   :(

Rick Rasnick, who coached the Eastern Michigan University football team from 1995-99 and led the program to its last winning season for over two decades, died Wednesday. He was 59.

Rasnick took over the program at 35 years old, and coached EMU to a 6-5 mark in 1995. EMU finished in the top 10 in the nation in passing offense, top 20 in total offense, and top 20 in scoring.  The team’s next winning season would not come until 2016.

Rasnick went 20-35 in his five-year tenure at EMU. Before taking over at EMU, Rasnick was an assistant at Utah and San Jose State. He was just 27 when he became the offensive coordinator at San Jose State in 1987.  In 2013, Rasnick was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease.

RIP Coach

A former Seattle Seahawks NFL player was shot dead over a parking space with his neighbor in Colorado, police said.

Anthony 'T.J.' Cunningham, 46, died on Monday after he was shot at a parking lot between two schools on Sunday, Arapahoe County police said.

They agreed to 'settle' some ongoing riff outside Eaglecrest High school on Sunday morning.  The police said Cunningham was shot several times.  There was only one firearm brought to the scene, the police said.

The former NFL safety was an assistant principal for Aurora Public Schools and a played for the University of Colorado before being drafted by the Seahawks.

Very timely -- Ezra Castro (38), aka 'Pancho Billa', the most recognizable Buffalo Bills fan out there, has stage 4 cancer, but before he dies at least gets to see his team die first in the playoffs they haven't been to in nearly two decades.
