Absolutely horrific stat in that article that he is the 9th member of the 1994 Chargers roster to die and the first of those nine to be older than 45.

One died within 5 months of the final in a car crash. Equally horrific perhaps, Hall is the first to die in nearly a decade since Junior Seau's suicide in 2012. 8 of those deaths came within 17 years of the final itself.

The word legend is used far too liberally these days. Seems barely adequate in JB's case.RIP coach.

They had to create a special position fir Jerry - extremely offensive co-ordinator. If he'd wanted success, he should have stayed with the Packers.

Meanwhile...

Marvellous stuff. That is the sort of post match interview you want in the Premier League. Instead of the banal 'we controlled the first 30 minutes but chances did not go our way' shite we always get.

J.D. Roberts, the second coach in franchise history, died this week at the age of 88. He was an original member of New Orleans' first staff as a scout and linebackers coach from 1967-69 before returning in 1970, hired as interim coach midway through the 14-game season, with New Orleans at 1-6.

And his first game proved to be one of the most memorable in franchise history, a 19-17 victory over Detroit that was capped by Tom Dempsey's then-NFL record, 63-yard field goal as time expired.

Anyone who saw former 49ers GM (and apparently a college football legend) Terry Donahue's publicised "battle with undisclosed cancer" since 2019 and thus displayed caution due to lack of further information can groan. He's dead aged 77.

Bit of shock this one. Played 5 seasons in the NFL before injuries forced early retirement. Family says symptoms of CTE were evident. Greg Clark dead at 49.

No, he recovered from COVID this winter. Completely unrelated to his death.
