Deathlist Dreaming

Recommended Posts

Things have come to a sorry state of affairs when you start having DL-related dreams. Last night I imagined there was some secret portal that I could get into while the 'waiting for log-in' page was on the screen. It took me to a croquet game, which no doubt signifies some bizarre sexual perversion - all dreams do, don't they? Someone (and it might have been a DL member) hit a ball several thousand miles, but that's about all I can remember.

I hope the rest of you haven't been similarly afflicted in your sleep, but I'll bet one or two have. Come on weirdos, share, whether they be connected to the DL or not. We'll get Dr StarCrossed in to analyse them.

Oddly enough, 'arry, I too had a DL moment in my dreams last night (not the first one). I was talking to CarolAnn and her son about something. I can't remember what exactly, but I think it involved money, or numbers or something. :P I often recall dreams later in the day, so I'll update if it becomes clearer.

Usually, my DL dreams involve me being on a train with Lord Fellatio Nelson; a train which seems to enter an unusally high number of tunnels. Often, the train carriage morphs into the missile-room of a submarine, which "floods its tubes" and launches a missile or two. Sometimes, just occasionally, I'm piloting a zeppelin, easing its way slowly but surely into a hangar...

Croquet? Hmmm.... maybe that's what Fossett is doing, scouting a decent site for a long-distance-croquet-shot record attempt. Or maybe he's just dead, having died instantly on impact with a dried-up creek bed; his ghastly, putrid remains wrapped in the mangled wreckage of his stunt plane, sundry maggots eating what little flesh the vultures and coyotes didn't scavenge.

Despite the tonnage of posts accrued I've never had a DL dream. Mebbe after the little get together in November......

I really really hope not. Not considering what I usually dream about.

 You know, Handrejka, there are certain websites you can visit to cater for those sort of tastes. I think you'll find a link or two in the "Bill Clinton's Cat Socks" thread :P

I have, of course, had many dreams concerning the death list. In the Gerald Ford thread, I think, is the one where I helped Ford fight Lord Cthulhu. In the Maryport Thread, I believe, is the one where I went to Maryport and had MPFC and company take me to his house for a party or something.

Then, of course, on the HDP is "Canadian Paul's Dream Team" where I choose only people I've seen die in dreams. Five hits thusfar, although since they were nowhere near the order that I dreamed them in (which is how I selected my team's order), I can't say that I have much faith in my psychic abilities.

For those who are curious, or just want to prevent me from getting unique picks, here's my full list of people I've seen die in dreams, with a * indicating that I've had more than one death-related dream about them, and in order. Also, I don't believe I've ever had a dream where someone dead died.

Ronald Reagan, Charles Lane*, Ariel Sharon, Benoit Mandelbrot, Meinhardt Raabe, Jean Stapleton, Mark Mothersbaugh, Suharto, Ice Cube, Ice T, Ron Santo*, Luciano Pavarotti, Stephen Fry, Tammy Faye*, Tom Poston, Ray Berres, Stewart Udall, Tony Martin, Elizabeth Bolden, Paul Prudhomme, Kenneth Kendall, Richard Whitemore, Margaret Thatcher, Johannes Heesters, Boris Yeltsin, Betty Ford, Saad al-Sabah*, Al Oerter, Harper Lee, Michael Foot, John Archibald Wheeler, Hans Erni, Flory Van Donck and Nichelle Nichols.

Out of those, the only one who's died and not been on a list of mine was Boris Yeltsin, although if you don't count my HDP entry the first year (and I don't really), then Elizabeth Bolden as well. In addition, three of them had specific ages of death in the dream: Ice T (55), Johannes Heesters (111) and Boris Yeltsin (83). Since the latter was way off, I don't put too much stock into it. Out of all of those, the only one where there was actually a correlation between dream and death was Reagan, who I dreamed of dying the night before he died, and was thus quite astonished later in the afternoon when I turned on the news.

Death related dreams for me aren't a DL related phenomenon either. When I was a kid, I used to have this series of dreams where I had to fight Gorillas, usually with me coming out as the loser. My most recent non-death DL-related dream came a few nights ago, when my mother insisted that I escort Margaret Thatcher around the town. She was so rude, she refused to shake my hand before I left her at the bus stop to catch her bus.

I had a dream in which an unnamed moderator shortened 'Arry's name to HarryMcNally'sBowlingAlley, thus igniting the Great Screen Name Wars of 2007.

Vey nice but , I think, the thread only required a basic summary not a bollocks to the forehead novel.

I can remember part of my dream from last night.

There was a prowler going around about my sister's house so for some strange reason, me and a friend got some sleeping bags and slept in a park waiting for the prowler to strike so we could catch him.

Can't remember exactly how it ended. I was either being chased by the prowler, or by the guy in the next sleeping bag.

I had two dreams last night:-

One was that Reading were sh*t away at Sunderland, but Kitson eventually scored after fluffing an earlier chance. I came on as subsitute.

Dream becomes reality except the sub bit

The other was an episode of Only Fools & Horses, where Del Boy, believing a particularly large, amorous lady is after him (Think Mrs Fox in Dad's Army, but it wasn't her) tries his best, with Uncle Albert's help, to stop her getting too friendly during dinner at Nelson Mandela House.

I think both are quite easy to explain - the football 'cos I was thinking, nay worrying, resigning myself to misery about it, and the dinner & amorous lady from the tv episode of "The IT Crowd last night, which manifested itself into Del Boy.

I've had many dreams that such & such has died - and a dream that I was at Ronnie Biggs funeral - but very rarely have any come true. About DL, or other DL'rs... nope.

Last night in between dreaming about falling out of a skyscraper in a car, landing safely and chasing after said car to rescue a bottle of wine; going to the cinema to watch Dr Who and spending my time in the toilets testing perfumes; eating in a restaurant while the cast of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert sang Abba songs, I dreamed Bou and I received Xmas presents from a certain American DL regular, these consisted of massive burnt orange coloured sweaters and bottles of water, Bou and I were then in the refund queue of M & S taking back said presents while everyone there was looking at 3 chav teenagers in a balcony above trying to work out which one was the American DL'er.

I think Freud may well have a field day with my dreams <_<.

My 16 year old had a dream that he was trying to sell a house in a rotted out forest and he had several people there looking at it. The house caught on fire. All the old rotten trees caught fire and then he woke up.

He's apparently starting early. I expect to see him on DL before too long. <_<

Although I've had at least 7 death-related dreams as a whole, only two I can think of involved DeathList itself. The first was where Charles Lane's death got confirmed to be in 2006(he was dead in real life when the dream happened, by the way) which set a fuss on DL, him being on the 07 list(another person on the 07 list, Levi-Strauss, was confirmed dead as well(no date, though), but there was no discussion for that on DL). The second was where Ariel Sharon died, and the front page on the site got updated to reflect that, and his picture was black and white.

I had two dreams the other night which I imagine were inspired by conversations in dl chat.

The first involved me and a number of people I didn't recognise, though one looked a bit like Barbara Knox, going to a dogs' home to pick some dogs for an agilty team. It was a bit like picking sides for games at school. Half way through the picking we realised that all the dogs were blind. I chose a really beautiful greyhound and then felt sorry for the two dogs left at the end and picked them as well and rescued them and took them home.

The next dream involved looking at a facebook group for people who'd just become parents. Lots of people were putting photos of there newborn babies on there and then it got spammed by people who didn't want children putting up pictures of their birth control tablets. Very strange.

The first dream was no doubt inspired by conversations I've had with CA about her dogs. The second probably by conversations I've had with various dlers about how I don't want kids.

Well last night I dreamt I got a pm from Tempus Fugit all about the Umlaut in German place names. Anyone care to tell me what that means?

Well I'm not a doctor (but I play one on TV), but it's fairly obvious that you subconsciously see yourself as an Eva Braun figure who worships mein Fuhrer Tempüs. You are even willing to lay down your life to help him in his quest to take over the Death List and make us bend to his iron will.

If the unthinkable were to happen, Sir Winston StarCrossed would be leading the fight.

As it's your first visit, Han, I won't charge you for this consultation.

Not sure about the orange sweaters, but the bit about the wine sounds perfectly sensible to me. Was the car a limo by any chance?

As for the bottles of water, ohmy.png the cheap sod! I hope the chavs got him.

Perhaps he intended to turn the water into wine dry.png .

I had quite an intense death-related dream last night and I'm not sure what to make of it to be honest.

So I was in this weird country, that was like a cross between Germany and a video game and I was a slave in the basement of the airport. My basic job was to serve the owner of the airport, Luke Skywalker, by running errands for him. Skywalker was not dressed as one would expect him to be, but as a German Nazi officer (minus the swastika) as were all of his personal guards. So I lived in the basement of this airport and did various tasks for him.

The whole thing was set up like a video game. On this particular day, I was supposed to be delivering messages among the senior officers. When I got in the elevator, certain buttons blinked and I was expected to press them in the correct sequence. When I did, I was brought to the main floor of the airport, without my restraints. I figured that this was my chance to escape, so I tried to sneak out of the airport. I dodged behind suitcases and in shadows, but it was to no avail. One of the guard robot spheres spotted me and began firing lasers at me. I decided to grab a blue laser and make a run for it. The whole scene turned into a top-down 2D view of the surrounding forest as I dashed out of the airport, firing my laser at various blocky robot guards. Lucky, the blue laser was the most powerful and tore through their ranks. I took some hits too, but those were from red lasers, so I was only slightly injured.

Finally I made it to this warehouse that had a big white door and a lightsaber. I grabbed the lightsaber and the door raised to let me in. Then it slammed shut behind me and I was in a round room with a similar door leading to a new room. That door opened as well and let me in, and again slammed shut. There was a third door but, before I could open it, the door that I had entered through opened again and a Rancor came in. I fought and defeated him with my green lightsaber and he died and faded away. Then, Luke Skywalker came in. He was no longer dressed in a uniform, but in his white Jedi outfit, and he had a purple lightsaber. He defeated me and I blacked out. When I came to, I was back in front of the first door, this time with only a cheap sword. Again I went through the first two doors but, this time, instead of a Rancor, the third door opened. This door led into the back storage room and I realized the the entire place was just a cover for a warehouse full of red boxes of documents. I freaked out as one of the officers walked by, but then I realized that they couldn't see me because I was on top of a very high pile of boxes. Then I saw one of my enemies (like from real life) so I decided that I was in a good position to kill her. I threw two of the boxes at her, just barely missing, then tried to squash her by collapsing the whole stack on her, which didn't work either. As she alerted the guards, I climbed down, throwing big red file boxes at the guards to kill them and almost smashing through the final box which was labeled with some word that began with a K and had red and yellow squiggly lines on it. When I got down, I killed more guards with my sword and ran back outside. I recovered my blue laser and fired at the guard robots that surrounded me, this time avoiding all of their beams and destroying most of them.

Finally I get to the balcony of the airport and one of my bearded friends (I forget who) was there. He tells me that I did in fact kill my enemy, even though she was able to alert the guards, but that I was very lucky and he thought I should beg Skywalker for forgiveness when he came to get me, otherwise I might die. I had the feeling that I would die and that I would lose in a battle with Skywalker. Skywalker charged up to me, this time wearing his orange pilot's outfit, and grabbed me and held me over the edge of the balcony, which hovered over a street about 70 feet below. He screamed at me to repent my killings and I said "I want to commit suicide, I want to die!" He said "that can be arranged" and loosened his grip. I used that to grab him and fling HIM over the edge, although I had to pull myself over the edge to accomplish this as well. We fell to our deaths, although I landed on top of him, so I survived for a few seconds before I died/woke up.

I know that's a bit long, but I wanted to get it written down. And no, I haven't been playing video games or watching Star Wars.
