Patrik Sjöberg, 56-year old Swedish world record-breaking 1984 and 1992 high jump silver medalist and 1988 bronze medalist hospitalized again.

Cocaine and alcohol use, bad habits. He was anesthetized for two weeks in March for sepsis and bronchitis (that he thought were covid). He now has bronchitis again and some kind of a bacterial infection in his spine or back.

And hospitalized again.

CJ Hunter, Oylmpian and World champ shot-putter in '99, dead at 52. Probably better remembered as the supplier of PEDs to his then wife Marion Jones.

A story here on CJ Hunter (see above) reveals that World Championship Gold & Bronze medallist Emmit King was killed in a shooting incident a few days ago; he was arguing with another man and they pulled guns on each other (yes, in USAmerica).

Iris Cummings (1920-) Swimming

Elda Cividino (1921-) Gymnastics

Joan Langdon (1922-) Swimming

Turns out Cividino already died in 2014 according to this:

https://www.triesteallnews.it/2021/12/centanni-dalla-nascita-dellolimpionica-sgt-elda-cividino/

Briefly on the "living centenarians" list yesterday until someone noticed that the article used as a confirmation of her 100th birthday mentions that she's dead.

I saw that. Added by a user who clearly didn’t bother to translate it beforehand.

At least when the traffic to the blog tells me that the largest referrer for the day is "deathlist.net".

Welcome back CP! You've been very absent these past years, don't be a stranger!

Thanks for the Olympic stats, CP!  Very useful as we currently have a Summer Olympics category in the always interesting Scavenger Hunt deadpool.

A game which can remain poised on a knife edge for months at a time

Yes, my little research for the Olympics category basically consisted of going to the CP page and sorting the names by age
