I am particularly gutted at that news .Im a massive Doctor Who fan and thi s is the biggest loss since Jon Pertwee in 1996. R.I.P Nick :(

Very sad news. Great man.

Expected since news broke of his pancreatic cancer though, sadly. :(

:shoot: Noted this emoticon just so I could go "Chap with wings" in tribute, and forever mark myself done as a geek. Ahem.

Not entirely confirmed yet, though have it on good authority, it seems that Elisabeth Sladen has died. Terribly sad and shocking news if true :o

Gallifrey Base regrets to inform all that beloved actress Elisabeth Sladen, portrayer of Sarah Jane Smith and all-around superstar to any Doctor Who fan, has passed away from cancer.

Let us remember everything she did for us, how much we loved her, how much her memory will mean to us for the rest of our lives.

Farewell, Sarah Jane. Goodnight, Lis.

From the Gallifrey Base. Sad news indeed.

So sad that we've lost The Brig and Sarah Jane in a matter of weeks. Who next? Tom?

Dreadful news. Stunned.

First some pals told me. Then a pal who worked on SJA. Then some mutual pals. Then DWM. Then the BBC. And I'd hoped it was a hoax too.

Dr Who Babe Elisabeth Sladen is missed by DL

Blast beaten to it!!

Shocking news, didn't know she was ill. I'm really glad I'm no longer shacked up with a Doctor Who fan.

Anyone know which particular cancer saw her off?

(Side note - In my yoof I seem to remember an episode in which she displayed what later became known as a camel-toe. Stuck in my impressionable memory for years).

She was in her bikini in "Death to the Daleks" but I'm struggling to remember camel toe....
