It stopped being fun, Doctor...

I share those sentiments...

Yes, because Adric dying, her aunt dying, possession by snake, and watching a galaxy explode earlier were just a bundle of laughs.

It is interesting because at the start of Planet of Fire the Doctor seems much more upset about Tegan leaving than he ever did about Adric giving up his life to save an entire planet.

It is possible the only person upset about Adric dying was Young Willz though, tbh.

You are bloody correct there. Even as a young lad, I saw Tegan snickering...

Meic Povey who appeared in the Eccleston era The Unquiet Dead (the Charles Dickens one) has died. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-42245482

Rather better known as co-creator of Pobol Y Cwm and as the sidekick Welsh detective (and imaginatively named!) Jones in Minder. But hey, I'm a Who geek, so it goes here.

Ooh, I remember him well from Minder but had no idea that he was a playwright, nor that he created Pobol Y Cwm.

btw Shocking that that BBC obit wouldn't count as a DDP QO.  I would urge Spade to reconsider the matter.

Me too.

His boss Sgt Chisholm ( Patrick Malahide ) was probably one of the best characters in it.

One of Mastermind's specialist subjects is Doctor Who. On now for you.

Over to you...

A mere 10/15 , though it was all New Who which I am less familiar with.

Which character searched for the 12th Doctor when Davros was dying?

Me - Uh, Davros, Capaldi? Did that happen again?

Very nice tribute there YoungWillz.  So many, especially from Classic Who gone.  I didn't know that Kismet Delgado had died - I always found that segment where her and Barry Letts talked about Roger when he died in that car crash really sad on the DVD extras - Roger sounded like such a nice bloke (can't remember which story it was from though). Hopefully she's reunited with him now (if you believe in that sort of thing of course).

Leaving aside the comic squint, Sylvester McCoy's looking bloody awful these days:

Could be a close run thing between him, Tom and Colin.

Doctor Who writer David Fisher has died aged 88.

He wrote The Stones of Blood (nicely gothic), Androids of Tara (bloody brilliant imo), Creature from the Pit (less brilliant) and The Leisure Hive (big favourite with serious fans), all for the Tom Baker era. His drafts for A Gamble with Time were turned into City of Death by Douglas Adams.

He also wrote the Hammer House of Horror episode Guardian of the Abyss, about the antiques dealer and the devil worshippers!

He had been ill for some time in a care home, and had been on my long list since 2015, but you can never quite tell with these long term cases. But away from that, he was a writer with a great imagination, albeit one which a BBC Dr Who budget really struggled to work with, and he gave real wit to his characters.

RIP.

His adaptations of his own scripts were a joy. In Creature From The Pit he manages a joyous romp not constrained by the budget of Seventies TV.

My theme team off the mark.

Stones of Blood was one of my favourite  stories, although I recall that on the DVD commentary David Fisher seemed to be half asleep and didn't contribute much ! I thank him for his contribution to Dr Who though. i will eat a sausage sandwich in his memory.

Awful news. RIP.

The Leisure Hive is such a clever story, definitely one of my favourites, including an early appearance of that guy who was the inspector in The Thin Blue Line.

Stones Of Blood was broadcast during the fifteenth anniversary, remember it well.

I'll repeat what I said about Androids of Tara - it's City of Death for hipsters! RIP...

Same here. My mum had a bit of a thing for Patrick McGoohan.

Gosh I can't believe it's nine years to the day since Patrick died. Makes me feel old!

I know the main thread will be elsewhere but Bella Emberg did a cameo in a Doctor Who episode (the one with Peter Kay).

A clean up of that list from November 2015 then, given the number of folk on it who have decided to snuff it in the last 18 months.

UPDATED: A few lists of living actors from cult British SF. Tried for the twenty living actors who appeared in most episodes. Credited cast members only. There's a lot of actors out there with no dates who stopped acting decades ago, so stuck with those known to be alive.

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons

  1.     Jeremy Wilkin (Ochre) b. 1930
  2.     Gary Files c. 1944
  3.     Shane Rimmer b. 1929
