Tom Baker looks and sounds better then he did in 2013 when he was in the 50th anniversary special!

So glad he's still healthy, alert and mentally as young as he was in the 1970s- can see him getting to his 90s at this rate. Definately not one for next years list based on this video!

Popped him here for his role as Colonel Archer in Resurrection Of The Daleks.

Jobel in Revelation Of The Daleks (they're dropping like flies from that one) and Mr Copper in Voyage Of The Damned. One of those Classic Who/New Who crossovers.

In the former he has one of the great last lines of any TV villain: "I would rather run away with my mother than a fawning little creep like you." :D

I am genuinely saddened by his death. Was a huge fan of Richard Bucket , which he has now kicked of course.

All Creatures Great and Small producer Bill Sellars dead aged 93.

Here because he directed Celestial Toymaker, but mostly because directors dont fit into the Acting Threads and I can't be arsed looking any longer to find the "more" right thread.

Never mentioned it at the time but it just so happened that Peter Davison mentions him in one of the blu ray documentaries released around that time. Obviously he was still alive when it was recorded . One of those weird coincidences !

A clean up of that list from November 2015 then, given the number of folk on it who have decided to snuff it in the last 18 months.

UPDATED: A few lists of living actors from cult British SF. Tried for the twenty living actors who appeared in most episodes. Credited cast members only. There's a lot of actors out there with no dates who stopped acting decades ago, so stuck with those known to be alive.

Classic Doctor Whos

1.       Tom Baker  (1934)

2.      Peter Davison (1951)

3.      Sylvester McCoy (1943)

4.      Colin Baker (1943)

Classic Doctor Who companions or note-worthies

1.      Frazer Hines (1944) – recovered from cancer

2.      Pat Gorman (1937) – now too ill to give interviews

3.      Katy Manning (1946)

[snip]

Pat Gorman reported dead.

Sad news, guy was almost the epitome of Who, especially in the 1970s. RIP.

Death reported of Sheena Marshe, who appeared in Hartnell era Who (1966), plus an episode of The Prisoner - The Girl Who Was Death. (Plus a whole load of other early British TV)

Considering that Jane Baker and David Fisher did not get Mainstream media qualifying obituaries I have compiled a list of all the remaining classic series Doctor Who writers and have assessed their obituary chances. However if it is a quiet week Last Word might need a filler.

Donald Tosh (b.1935) – Hopeful: Last surviving first Doctor writer

Henry Lincoln (b.1930)   Probable because of his links to Dan Brown Da Vinci Code court case

Terrence Dicks (b.1935) If Terrence Dicks does not get a BBC obit within 24 hours of his death being announced on Twitter Tony Hall is going to end up at the rough end of an awful shit storm from DW fans and will end up looking like QEII on 5th September 1996.

Trevor Ray (?)                    Doubtful. Wrote Children of the Stones but little available info on wiki or IMDB

Bob Baker (b.1939)          Likely because of his connection to Aardman

Chris Boucher (b.1943)   Probable wrote for a number of high profiles shows alongside Doctor Who

Andrew McCulloch (b.1945)         Unlikely

John Flanagan (b.1947)                  Unlikely

Andrew Smith (?)                             Unlikely

Stephen Gallagher (b.1954)         Almost certain for his other published works

Christopher H. Bidmead (b.1941)               Possible

Christopher Bailey                           Almost zero

Eric Saward (b.1944)                       Likely

Barbara Clegg                                    Very unlikely

Paula Moore                                      Very very unlikely

Philip Martin (b.1938)                    Possible because of Gangsters

Pip Baker                                             Very unlikely (cf Jane)

Glen McCoy (b.1954)                      Unlikely

Stephen Wyatt (b.1948)                Unlikely

Malcolm Kohll (b.1953)                  Likely – produced a number of high profile films probably won’t mention Doctor Who though.

Ian Briggs (b.1958)                           Unlikely

Ben Aaronovitch (b.1964)             Certain because of Rivers of London

Graeme Curry                                    Very unlikely

Kevin Clarke                                       Very unlikely

Marc Platt (b.1953)                          Unlikely

Rona Munro (b.1959)                     Probably because of her James plays and the fact she has also written for nuWho.

First chance to test this. Twitter sources including Andrew Cartmel. Confirming that Graeme Curry has died.

While I'm here, happy birthday to Steven Mackintosh, 7 months younger than me and the ginger boy who is the first to be condemned to the Timelash. :birthday:

Gawd, I remember when I was that skinny. Still fairly skinny now, but then so is Steven.

Darrol Blake who directed The Stones of Blood for Doctor Who is apparently 82 today!

Directed episodes of The Tomorrow People and Doomwatch and was a production designer for Adam Adamant Lives!

Looking at his output he's also directed for EastEnders, Coronation Street, Crossroads, Emmerdale and Brookside. Produced and directed Tucker's Luck.

Apparently he created the original Blue Peter set.

Possible obit given his work when he goes.

Anyone know how many centenarian actors or actresses there are living from Doctor Who? I can only think of Earl Cameron. There must be more though !

msc produced a handy list some time ago on this thread.

Yarrow was second after Cameron, then there is a drop to Nicholas Parsons, a relative youngster who won't see his centenary. I mean, won't see it until 2023. ;)
