Oberlander was possibly the last "big" name left from the Wiesenthal Centre most wanted lists (published between 2004 and 2018) still alive.

Depends if Gerhard Sommer (b. 1921) is still alive. He was declared unfit to stand trial in May 2015, so is he really still alive aged 100?

On a completely off topic note, that's yet another person from my original 1924 list that Leslie Phillips has outlived. He's almost defeated everyone who was on it. How's he doing it?

Harry Paul Fritz Schulz (1925)

Ludwig Heinrich Sonntag (1924)

Werner Bruß (1920)

Hilde Michnia (1922)

Sonntag died in March 2006 and Bruß in December 2011 according to their Polish wikipedias.

Not much new about Schulz or Michnia. Chance they could have died off-radar during the last five to three years?

From Prophet's February list now atleast three are dead, as Stork, Oberlander and Berger and possibly also Riss.

An "Aksel Andersen" born 1924 died in 2018, however I don't know if this was that Aksel Andersen.

I apologize, the date of death of Bruß and Sonntang was only recently added in their wikipedia pages.

Johann Riss definitely died in 2019.

Also Alfred Stork, Friedrich Karl Berger, Wilhelm Karl Stark and Johannes Rehbogen.

Gerhard Sommer, Hilde Michnia and Helma Kissner It is not known whether they are still alive.

Harry Paul Fritz Schulz is still alive and he is deemed 'unfit' for trial.

"Tomorrow the trial of Irmgard Furchner, the secretary of the Stutthof concentration camp commander Hoppe is scheduled to begin. She recently wrote the court, however, that she is too ill to appear.
We are concerned that the court might close the case and let her elude justice."

What a story!!!

https://www.zeit.de/gesellschaft/2021-09/landgericht-itzehoe-prozess-stutthof-sekretaerin

Google translator:

"Arrest warrant for the ex-secretary in the Stutthof concentration camp Around 65,000 people died in the Stutthof concentration camp near Danzig.

A former concentration camp secretary is on the run at the start of the trial. A trial against a former secretary in the German concentration camp Stutthof near Gdansk begins before the regional court of Itzehoe in Schleswig-Holstein. The 96-year-old defendant Irmgard F. faces more than eleven thousand cases of aiding and abetting murder and several cases of aiding and abetting attempted murder. According to the indictment, she worked in the camp from 1943 to 1945 as a typist and typist for the commandant's office. She is charged with helping those in charge of the camp with the systematic killing of prisoners. However, the defendant is fleeting. The district court had issued an arrest warrant, said the presiding judge Dominik Groß. The woman left her home in the morning and took a taxi to a subway station, said a court spokeswoman. Therefore the trial against the former secretary of the management of the Stutthof concentration camp was delayed right from the start.

International Auschwitz Committee criticizes the accused's escape

The flight of the defendants caused outrage at the International Auschwitz Committee: "This shows an incredible contempt for the rule of law and also for the survivors," said Vice Executive President Christoph Heubner. The committee represents concentration camp survivors and their relatives. An estimated 65,000 prisoners, many of them Jews, died in Stutthof during World War II. The camp near Danzig gained notoriety for the catastrophic supply of the inmates, which the SS consciously accepted, and who mainly died of exhaustion and illnesses. Most of the victims died as a result of the hostile conditions. At least 200 were murdered in the gas chamber and a locked train car with Zyklon B. 30 were killed in the secret shot in the neck in the camp's crematorium. Several trials against former members of the Nazi camp teams have recently taken place in Germany. In July 2020, the Hamburg district court sentenced a former security guard in Stutthof to two years probation. The court found the 93-year-old guilty of complicity in murder in 5,230 cases."

She should be included on our D-A-CH-list for next year.

The trial of the former SS guard Josef Schütz, soon to be 101 years old, will start today (october 7) in Brandenburg an der Havel. Among the witnesses there will be Siegmund Freund, 101 years old, a German Jew from Remscheid, who survived hell in Sachsenhausen concentration camp.

I honestly don't see the point in taking anyone to court who is like 100 years old as they are on verge of death anyway. Go away for life sure - that will be like 2 years or less.

New name: Herbert Wahler.

He is 99 years old and he was a member of Einsatzgruppe C, which systematically shot dead tens of thousands of defenceless Jewish children, women and men in the atrocity in Ukraine. He is the last living veteran of the SS death squad behind the Babyn Yar massacre.

Onestamente non vedo il motivo di portare in tribunale qualcuno che ha 100 anni perché comunque sono sull'orlo della morte. Vai via per sempre, saranno come 2 anni o meno.

Their counterparts of the 40s (very old, weak and disabled people) who have seen their life cut short for no reason, would have many things to complain about.. Justice has no age, even if purely symbolic.

Potremmo anche i nomi rimanenti da questo elenco, finché l'elenco esiste ancora:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_most-wanted_Nazi_war_criminali

C'è un Kurt Gosdek e un Helmut Rasbol (nessun processo per mancanza di prove).

Herbert Wehler is considered the last living veteran of the SS death squad behind the Babyn Yar massacre. So, Kurt Gosdek and Wilhelm Karl Friedrich Hoffmeister are probably dead.. Unfortunately we have neither any date nor any confirmation.

Interesting, but one for the WWII veterans thread. This one is for Nazi war criminals/and those accused.
