Lockwood died suddenly Sunday (Feb. 17), a day after he performed in Paris.

He got a mention in the Telegraph two years ago. That said, I still say it's tough for him, as many jazz musicians aren't receiving an obit as of late (Cecil Taylor being the exception at the moment).

That’s really a sad one, not just cuz I constantly short listed him on age only so he always got pushed aside, but he did all the Schoolhouse Rock material and if that isn’t a lock cinch QO your country can (Interjection!).

Dave Liebman - clarinet/saxophone (born 1946) - this is where the personnel stops being "the greats" and starts being more insider-y. Liebman was the only white guy in this very black group.

James Mtume - piano/guitar/everything (born 1946) - very likely obit

Al Foster - drums (born 1944) - about as obitable as Sonny Fortune , wouldn't bet on it

Michael Henderson - bass guitar (born 1951) - solid musician who got around

Keith Jarrett - piano (born 1945) was in Miles' band for a year or so - the biggest jazz pianist alive and a definite obit

Betty Davis - singer (born 1945) - Second wife of Miles for only a year, but she showed him electric music (like Jimi Hendrix). Also, she's a cult funk star in her own right. And made the hardest, sexiest funk that exists on this planet.
