Joe Sample, keyboard player of the Crusaders, has died according his Facebook page. He was 75.

Crusaders co-founder and saxophonist Wilton Felder is the third to go in 18 months, also at 75. Expect really long drum solos at future gigs.

Another dead saxophonist (my my, it's been a busy year) Phil Woods has passed at 83. http://thejazzline.com/news/2015/09/alto-sax-legend-phil-woods-has-died-at-83/

Worked with all the greats over the years, married Charlie Parker's widow, etc etc.

Sad, that. Woods was quite a biggie.

Hey! Great call banshees! Where did you get that idea from?

Mr Goode plays some Sunday afternoons round the corner from me. May have to do a little investigating.

Coleridge Goode - Jamaican-born jazz bassist

Coleridge Goode finally dead at 100. http://www.jazzwisemagazine.com/breaking-news/13829-great-brit-jazz-bassist-coleridge-goode-dies-aged-100 and http://garycrosbybass.com/2015/10/04/rip-coleridge-goode-1914-2015/

Unique DDP hit if and when there's an obit which qualifies.

Edit: Check Deathrace and Sean's Deadpool too.

Pianist Paul Bley, who played with Charles Mingus and Charlie Parker, has died at 82:

I was listening to some Charlie Parker just the other day and jotted down Paul Bley's name to look up at a later time. I guess that's saved me some time.

Claude Williamson, a versatile pianist who skillfully merged the bebop style of the East with the laid-back sound of the West, securing himself a seat in the cool L.A. jazz scene of the ‘50s, has died. Williamson, 89, died in a facility in Sunland on Saturday, said his son, Marc Williamson. He fell and broke a hip last year and suffered complications afterward, his son said.

Said his son, "dad was hip right up till the end."
