Are you saying that there are actually jobs in Dumfries & Galloway?

Aye Big Jobbies....

Why do you want to go up there?

Its full of Haggis eating Kilt wearers shouting 'See you Jimmy!!!' while necking Scotch from the bottle.

You will also be in danger of random attacks by rabid Sporrans.

Best of luck.

Necking scotch from the bottle...ah those were the days.

I'm currently in North Kent - which is without a doubt the most miserable racist hostile place I've ever encountered - Belfast was friendly and charming in comparison; if a bit bomby.

D&G.... Not West Coast. Be trouble when hostilities commence as near the Border. Too near Glasgow. Yet near to nowhere. If you can sign on, even in ptaaaach, Kent, that would be preferable to a life in that shithole. Lockerbie was improved after.......eh....coff.

O dear.  Castle Douglas environs was suggested as a place to live.  Is it truly worse than Orpington?

Love the West Coast but fear the commute's not do-able

Just for info... North Kent is packed with DFLs (Down From London). 12 years here and I have yet to meet more than around 10 people who confess to actually being born here - admittedly, those 10 are worrying enough by themselves. I know a lady who considers a trip from Thanet to Canterbury to be a major excursion and has never been to London in her life.

The local bus garage is staffed almost entirely by semi retired London bus drivers - who when they first get here, cannot believe there is such a thing as a bus that doesn't have an assault screen. As for the racist element.... yeah, true, but they are all Londoners who fled down here a couple of decades back when London started to become over-heated and overpriced.

All said though.... there are worse places to live. I can recommend Deal or Sandwich, which seem to be undergoing a renaissance. But I have taken a liking to Middlesbrough since my youngest moved there. It's so flipping cold though which is a downer.

Oh so Orpington is yet to be relocated to South London like Croydon and Sidcup have?

Dagenham and Ilford are now routinely mentioned as being in East London, I assumed Sarf Lundun was also spreading even further to cover whole swathes of Surrey and Kent.

At this rate Norfolk will be a borough of North London within the next 20 years.

Ftr, D&G...redeeming benefit.... The Wicker Man was filmed there, and I always wanted to go to that themed music festival. Usually my sort of old punk bands. But, personal reasons yada yada, I won't set foot in the County.

A housing development in Corby advertised itself to commuters as North Londonshire

I dont know Northamptonshire that well but, IIRC, there was a Steel industry in Corby once upon a time?

I think they had to regenerate it into somesort of rural paradise you could commute home to from Londinium.

Until a few years ago Corby was the largest town in Europe without a mainline rail station

Corby smells like dried vinegar on a dinner plate.

I suspect that you have also just described the smell of a Female Tramps beaver Spadey.

I was just looking that up, and was disappointed to find that the Corby Trouser Press does not in fact originate from Corby.  <_<

O yes and with lots of (legal) weaponry.  Haven't been west of the I95 yet - but did drive the length of it.  Kent has the A2.....

Can a helpful Deathlister tell me where online I can watch the new series of The Deadliest Catch?  It used to be promptly uploaded on Youtube, but the powers that be seem to have clamped down on that sort of thing now.   I did find one dodgy site which had it, but was then bombarded with adverts for Russian porn and Muslim dating.
