Deathray 2,940 Posted November 3, 2016 A while ago I mentioned BBC commentator Mick Lowe who is BBC Radio Newcastle's primary commentator for the football. Just to update you that he's missed a few more matches for health reasons. He's been consistently missing matches sporadically for a while now so there's an opportunity for a long term health issue. No public knowledge though, might be an outside bet for next years less picky deadpools, could probably even swing a national obit if you're short. Now retired. Hasn't said it's for health reason but it probably is. The cover presenters were saying they hoped he got better during recent matches. Probably swing a national, been around almost as long as Ali Brownlee (the boro comm not the triathlete)

Sir Creep 7,070 Posted November 7, 2016 In a tragic twist, a 19-year-old footballer was killed in the Syria fighting. Kassem Shamkha died in Aleppo while fighting off a rebel attack. He was fighting alongside Hezbollah. Since 2009, Shamkha had played for Hezbollah's Al-Ahed football club which has won Lebanon's national championships four times, most recently in 2015. If my math is correct he was playing with the national team at age 13?
