Too late to make this year's Sports Personality of the Year obituary section.

I want to make a prediction... I believe 2020 will be the year of demented footballers.

Nobby Stiles

Gerd Muller

Ernie Moss

Stan Bowles

Jimmy Millar

Jimmy Calderwood

Frank Worthington

Matt Tees

Wout Holverda

Dave Serella

I'm gonna say at least half this list doesn't make it to 2021.

Still have a gut feeling Stiles won't even make 2020 never mind 2021.

Pretty sure the Saint doesn't have dementia unless it's a recent announcement. He's had other serious health issues though of course

ISJ had cancer, but has kept quiet about it - presumably the fact he still breaths meant it got better or controlled as its been a while.

Didn't know about Jimmy Calderwood, that's a shame, dementia at 60. His Dunfermline side played some surprisingly good stuff at times, though the meme at the time was his sides would batter Rangers only to lose to fluke goals for 3 years straight. When he went to Aberdeen, results speak for themselves - taking a non-Old Firm Scottish club beyond Christmas in Europe has only happened once in at least 20 years. Maybe even since Jim McLean was taking Dundee United to the UEFA CUp final? Their final group game was funny as Copenhagen fans seemed to think it was a bye as they only needed a draw against Scottish opposition. They got gubbed 4-0!

oops, that would be correct. Had dementia down in ailments in my spreadsheet, but can't find anything to support it.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and England manager Terry Venables celebrates his 77th birthday today. He is certainly someone who eventually I expect to come on the committees radar for consideration.

Strangely I best recall Kovacevic from the year Real Sociedad nearly won La Liga and him and Nihat were lethal. Didn't he have to retire due to heart problems a few years after that?
