Death in Vegas

Some tragic news from Switzerland (again) tonight as the tragic death of Elia Alessandrini has been announced at the age of just 25.

The central defender joined second-tier side Stade Lausanne-Ouchy from SC Kriens in the summer and had made five appearances in the Swiss Challenge League this season.

He spent the majority of his youth career with BSC Young Boys, joining FC Thun, Kriens and Chiasso on loan deals before leaving YB permanently for Kriens in August 2020.

No cause of death is publically available right now.

We all read the Deaths in 2022 page on Wikipedia you know. Useless posting all these when they’ve been listed on there for days.

Serie A legend, Uruguyan midfielder Fabian O'Neill, in coma in ICU with unspecified illness.

Only 49, but was already near death in 2020 due to liver failure as a consequence of his alcoholism. Worth a punt?

Jair Bala dies, aged 79, a footballer who was accidentally shot when a director of Flamengo pointed a gun at him when he went to ask for money for a goal achieved, the employee thought the gun was unloaded and pointed it to the ground, the bullet ricocheted and entered the left thigh stopping in the groin, the doctors thought it best not to operate, hence the nickname. He replaced Pelé when he scored his alleged 1000th goal. He also played for Flamengo, Botafogo RJ and others, including Palmeiras de 1967, national champion of that year (20th to die from that team out of 28, including the coach)
He also played for Comercial SP, a team from my city

recently had a stroke

Hmmm... they insist he is good, but looks like he is already dead.

Big year for him, between having a stroke and texting pictures of his dick to female co-workers at Ajax.

I could be wrong, but I thought the rumours were that female co workers weren't his thing

Marc Overmars recovering after suffering from a stroke.  Sorry about the shiity source

While I don't easily wish bad stuff upon people, I'm glad at least he has some bad luck after what he's done. He was an influential man at Ajax for years, all the while sending young co-workers pictures of the wrong kind of balls, and after the news dropped and he had to leave, found another job with Antwerp in a couple of weeks and went on with his career like nothing happened.
