Had the look of a rather burly Ray Davies!

Great career with both Liverpool (League Championship, UEFA Cup, FA Cup) and Nottingham Forest (2 European Cups, League Championship, 2 League Cups).

RIP.

I'm not a huge fan of football, but that Notts Forest team was incredible.

Lloyd played under Shankly and Cloughie, jesus that's two hard gigs!

Nottingham Forest (sorry - had an acquaintance who would always correct anyone saying Notts Forest. Some things you never forget!)

I think I've clarified my non-interest already!

Back in those days the Wolves, the Tottenham and the Forest were the teams alongside Liverpool. How times have changed (I understand there are some other teams doing rather better these days, from the little I hear of English footy).

Gordon Cowans diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s.

He’s a friend of a friend & saw him about 3 or so years ago, & it was so sadly obvious he had some form of difficulty.

He’s now brave enough to go public & should be admired.  Cracking player for us in his day, & woefully underused by England.

Feel slightly hypocritical on having him on my list today.

Gordon Cowans has taken a detoriation (from X);

Gordon Cowans is in a nursing home as his dementia takes a stronger hold. Goodness Sid you deserve much better for all that skill you gave us  on the pitch and the laughs off the pitch. You maybe not able to remember much but  we will remember always. God bless Sid

He was with Dennis Mortimer & Tony Morley on Lichfield market a couple of weeks back doing a memorabilia thing.  He really wasn't in a good way.

Crying shame to see your heroes go like this.  Paradoxically his feet did all the talking - was renowned for avoiding heading!

David Jackson was born in Stoke-on-Trent and died aged 87, his career mirroring that of his twin brother Peter. He was an interior lineman. The pair played at Wrexham and Bradford City, where their father, Peter Jackson, was manager. When their father was sacked in March 1961, the brothers also left immediately to sign for Tranmere Rovers for a combined fee of £3,000. They played a total of 449 league games, scoring 76 goals for City. Their careers were briefly separated when Jackson signed for Halifax Town two years later, before they both played together at non-league clubs Frickley Colliery, Altrincham and Hyde United

Always sad to hear of the death of an ex-Royal, but in truth, his time with us saw him vastly under-used. He went on to have a lot more success at Brentford.

Frida Maanum collapsed and was stretchered off on oxygen during the women's league cup final today. Stable, apparently and didn't look like she got the full Christian Eriksen revival treatment, but still a worry all round

Impressive Zagallo made it this far with his heart and kidney issues, his health already mentioned in the Time Added first post from 2007. The most "How're they still alive" footy names I can think of are now probably Bilardo, César Luis Menotti and Nelson Acosta.

César Luis Menotti hospitalised with severe anemia due to thrombophlebitis. "In delicate condition"

Luke Fleurs, a 24-year-old central defender for South African side Kaizer Chiefs has shockingly been shot and killed in a car-jacking.

Before joining the Chiefs, he had made 66 appearances and scored two goals for Supersport United. He also spent a season with Ubuntu Cape Town.

He also had four caps for South Africa's Under-23 national team in 2021 and had been called up to the senior side that same year, but was ultimately never selected.

Source claims to be great great nephew.

Dickie Rooks, former Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Bristol City player, reportedly dead:

Awaiting the usual confirmations.

If true, I think he's a current Hare's Pool pick. Also a former DDP pick for Blueberry Crumble in 2022, so List of the Missed @Death Impends if and when something more solid comes along: https://www.derbydeadpool.co.uk/deadpool2022/celebs_R.html#rooks9d022
