If so - sorry! I thought I would remember all the more bizarre stories here. The bizarre is what I live for.

About Peter Lorimer, at least he was out and about in July:

https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/995659/Leeds-United-Are-the-Whites-doomed-to-stay-in-the-shadows

However, he's being described as being "in poor health himself recently".

This was also reported when it happened. Sooo :clivedunn:

More longlist combing - here's a more bizarre finding:

Gary Mabbutt, Spurs "legend", suffering from diabetes, had circulatory failure and heart surgery in 2017, says "a rat ate a part of my foot while I was sleeping":

Awoke, yelling "ma futt!".

It was. This is a  lesson as to why posts need to contain a name in order for the search function to pick it up. People moan about the search function being useless but how is it supposed to find something that isn't mentioned?

Didn't know that but did know he was from Carlisle!

Re Bobby Moore the thief etc. Is there some reputable account of the whole thing on t'internet?

On second thoughts - is there a better account than this: https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2002/jun/20/football.alantravis

Can you trust English sources over the gypsy cunts guilt?

The interview at the time is interesting.

Thompson can't be the player alluded to in your link, too old.

Using my impartial eye, Moore was a thieving cheating cunt who lived waaaay beyond what he should have :)

For those who are getting bored with picking Nobby Stiles, here's an update on Stan Bowles:

https://www.thestar.com.my/sport/football/2018/11/02/shanks-running-ny-marathon-for-stricken-pal-bowles/

And for those bored with a November Bowles update, here's a late December one.  Too bad he turned 70, he was such a sexier pick at 69.  Probably a good pick but it won't be by me.

Quote from the article-

“He just walks about – he doesn’t know the score. The last time I saw him was about two months ago."

Still walking means not dying imminently.

The Maltese football fraternity was on Monday mourning the loss of Herbert Messina Ferrante who passed away after a long illness, aged 80.

A dental surgeon by profession, Messina Ferrante is fondly remembered in the football circles as an administrator, having served as president of Sliema Wanderers for six years after he was elected at the head of the Blues in 1987.

During his time as Sliema president, he led the team to a memorable league title in season 1988-89.  In 1990, the Wanderers also won the FA Trophy following a 1-0 win over Birkirkara in the final.

Rumours on Twitter from a couple of days ago (annoyingly I only came across them today, after the DDP deadline) that Dean Hoyle, Huddersfield's chairman, is "seriously ill".

So Cardiff's new record signing Emiliano Sala might not be making it to his first training session.

I wonder if Cardiff will still have to pay for him? Very sad if confirmed.

Plane disappeared (ie went down) in the Channel near Jersey yesterday, in Winter. Search called off at 2am, says Beeb. He is 100% dead.
