Death in Vegas

Former Sounders general manager Jack Daley, who guided the original incarnation of the team through its first eight seasons, has died in San Diego at age 82.

His son, John, said Daley’s wife found him collapsed on the bathroom floor of his home Thursday morning. Attempts to revive Daley from what his family suspects was a heart attack proved unsuccessful.

“Whatever it was, it happened quick,’’ his son said. “He had just gotten out of the shower and was getting ready to go and play a round of golf.’’

A tip o' the cap, as no one can poke with a stick like charon.
But sadly SirC wasn't online to take the bait, and he hates to see a good stick-poking go to waste.

The Seer of Bluenose Mortality bags another one: Eric Caldow dead at 84.

Pics from the funeral.

Of note, the Girvan Lighthouse looks fine for his age, but The Bastard ( Greig) , Davie Wilson and wee Willie Henderson  are staying on my Huns to watch list.

Hateley looks far older than he is too (57) and I doubt he'll make the same age as his dad.

"Tommy Smith wasn't born. He was quarried" - (thank you) Mr Bill Shankly.

RIP Iron man Tommy

Now seems to be an unrealistic gap between the oldest two (b. 1915) and the third (b. 1921) of 6 years.

Must surely be others who we just don't know about.

Well there''s a 4 year gap between Ronald Atkins and Sir Patrick Duffy! But yeah, with thousands of clubs in the UK, the odds must be high there are other footballers out there, but at this point, so obscure we'll only ever hear about them if they threaten super-centenarian age.

I'm working on this. There will be another OoO megalist later this year. I'm compiling the list at the moment and am doing it by alphabetical order by club. At the moment, I'm on Charlton so there's some way to go yet but I'm already on 150 names.

Once the list is done I'll check the names and delete those gone and then we should have a complete list.
