Atsu still missing however in related news the contractor of the building he was staying in has been remanded in custody after trying to flee Turkey.

No living or dead person can be taken out of the building where Christian Atsu is trapped. Link

Really sad news, knowing he has 3 kids...

Atsu Still missing as per an update from his agent. They have located 2 pairs of his shoes and his exact room location but not him. Thermal imaging suggests people may still be alive in the building but he also states that progress is slow, help is limited, and that Hatayspor has provided no help whatsoever to help locate him.

Given that it has become clear that he's still in there, it's ridiculous that the BBC haven't pulled their article about him being rescued from last week.

And they even had his wife on BBC news the other day saying the reports were false.

Do the BBC ever pull articles? They tend to keep up inaccurate ones and do have a current one saying he is still missing.

Well they ought to. Bloody irresponsible journalism otherwise.

Horrible story coming out of Belgium where lower-division goalkeeper Arne Espeel (25) collapsed on the field after saving a penalty kick and later died in hospital.

Attempts to revive Espeel with an on-site defibrillator were unsuccessful, but the usual antivax lunatics are already on the story like flies to shite.

Sadly no happy ending his body has been found and he's only 31. I hope the club takes care of his family.

And to think he was supposed to take a plane few hours before the earthquake but decided not to as he scored a late winner the night before and went out celebrating with his teammates...man, RIP.

Italian player and manager (Perugia, Lazio, Inter and AC Milan) Ilario Castagner is dead at 82

In 1978-1979, under his management, Perugia became the first Serie A to finish the season unbeaten, a feat only equalled by Fabio Capello (1992 with Milan) and Antonio Conte (2012 with Juventus)

However Perugia finished runner-up, their highest achievement to date.

Castagner was also the 4th (out of 8) to coach both Inter and AC Milan, and the only one to go straight from Inter to AC Milan (or the opposite)

Ahmed Suat Oyazici, Turkish Trabzonspor’s player (1967-1972) and manager (1973-1988 and 1999) is dead at 87

Under his management, Trabzonspor won 4 Champions titles, 3 Cups and 5 Supercup, doing the treble (Championship, Cup and Supercup) in 1977. These was the first time a club outside the « big three » (Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce) had won the the championship, a feat that was only repeated in 2010, 2020 and 2022

As a player, he was a member of Turkey’s okympic team in 1960.
