Mauricio Assumpção died at age 60, he was president between 2009 and 2014 of Botafogo RJ (current leader of the recurrent Brazilian championship A), in his term Seedorf was hired in 2012, but ended his term with relegation in 2014 to the B series. He had been diagnosed with cancer of the lymphatic system earlier this year.

Gints Freimanis, who played 13 times and scored one goal for the Latvian national team, has died of skin cancer aged 38.

 

The full-back played for numerous clubs in his homeland, including the reputable Ventspils and also made almost 160 appearances across three spells for Jelgava.

With Jelgava, he won the Latvian Cup four times and twice won the Baltic Cup with the Latvian national side.

With John Hollins' death confirmed, he becomes the 5th Chelsea player from the 1970 FA Cup Final to die; Leeds United still leading with 7, plus their sub

 

He's the first to die since Terry Cooper in 2021.

Titus Okere, died aged 94, was a Nigerian footballer selected as a member of the "UK Tourists", a touring team that represented Nigeria in 1949. Gaetano Troja was born in Palermo (ITA) and died there at the age of 78, he was a footballer, he played for Palermo, Brescia, Napoli, Bari and Catania. He played seven seasons for Palermo, three in Serie A and four in Serie B, scoring 43 goals and becoming one of the most beloved players in the team's history.

Karolis Chvedukas was a Lithuanian footballer born in Marijampolė, he died at the age of 32, he played for FK Sūduva, Dubdalk (IRL), also played for clubs in Poland, Croatia, Malta and was in that year he was in the club of his hometown, which has the same name as your city

José Aparecido was a Brazilian soccer referee, he died at the age of 71 of a cerebral aneurysm, he became famous in Brazil when he received a spit from an athlete (Neto) after he was expelled, which resulted in a 4-month suspension for the player (who played for Corinthians), he also whistled a state final between Palmeiras x Corinthians in which he failed to expel an athlete from Palmeiras (a violent cart) in the first half, but expelled 3 from Corinthians and one from Palmeiras, he whistled both games in the finals and gave a yellow card to an important Corinthians player who took him out of the last game of the championship
Years later he admitted that he could have expelled the athlete from Palmeiras for the violent cart
