Never let it be said we don't cover all nationalities here. Commins Menapi, apparently the greatest ever footballer from the Solomon Islands, has died aged 40. He scored 27 goals for his country including two in a historic 2-2 draw with Australia in the 2004 OFC Nations Cup. However, his legacy should probably be this reducer of a tackle from a New Zealand Football Championship game between Waitakere United and Auckland City:

So anyone else see Liverpool's capitulation last night? I assume TMIB wont forget it in a hurry. Anyhow, Sevilla came from 0-3 down to draw in the second half. What was the Sevilla manager, Eduardo Berizzo's stirring half time team talk?

Announcing his diagnosis with malignant adenocarcinoma, that's what.

Cunt would do it then, wouldn't he?

I never ever want to see Liverpool face that fucking team ever again as long as I live. They're Wimbledon '88, Arsenal '89 and Fergie's United in '99 in triplicate and a cherry on top.

It would have helped matters enormously if Klopp hadn't insisted on playing that arch traitor the Thal Spy, Ronson Moreno again....

^  Could have been worse if Liverpool hadn't suddenly decided to score from corners!

Had much the same issue with Thistle and Rangers, mind you. Of course, Rangers died, but then they've been trying to do an unconvincing Dracula impression for the last few years, and they still get all the contentious ref decisions/fluke deflected injury time winners etc etc.

Tipping up old huns #42867

Bobby Brown at 94 is the oldest former player.

I'm actually finding this a bit annoying. Was he really that great? He's definitely not the best black footballer I've ever seen that was Tony Fuckin Yeboah, thanks.

He's probably not gonna die but they're gonna report every time he's in hospital over the next decade until he does.....

Ex-Black Star striker, Tony Yeboah has denied rumours making rounds on Social Media that he is dead.

He has also warned those spreading such false news to desist from it.

Reports went viral on Social Media late Monday afternoon, claiming that the ex- Frankfurt, Leeds United striker had died in London after suffering multiple seizures.

The story of his passing-on first appeared on http://houstonchronicle-tv.com, a US based website.

Turns out George Haigh (b. June 1915) isn't the oldest surviving professional footballer. Arthur Smith (b. May 1915) is.

Article from April 2017 about Smith here.

So in terms of British players I guess it looks like

1) Arthur Smith (b. May 1915) Bury, Leicester City
2) George Haigh (b. June 1915) Stockport County, Rochdale, Lancaster City
3) Ivor Broadis (b. Dec 1922) Carlisle, Sunderland, Man City, Newcastle, Queen of the South

Bizarrely I can't find any players alive in between. Surely somebody must know of some?

There used to be lots of online databases that question could be looked up on - where have they all gone to?

Question added to avoid the fact the person I thought might fit Ulitzer's question, on second looks, has actually been dead for 17 years...

Second World War would've impacted on football careers around then.

Bobby Brown pictured a page ago, is 19/3/23 I believe.

Colin Collindridge (b. 15 Nov 1920), played 142 games for Sheffield United either side of WW2

Alf Patrick (b. 25 Sep 1921), 228 games for York City

There's a few others that Wikipedia lists as "living English footballers", but with no evidence.

This is awesome work. So - pardon my ignorance here - who's the oldest former international? Broadis played for England. He was ill - as in rumoured to be unwell - a few years ago which I posted here but appears to have recovered pretty well.

Here's all the still-living Italian footballers I could find born before 1923:

Francesco Cergoli - 22nd October 1921 (Juventus, Atalanta, Triestina, also managed Triestina)

Corrado Contin - 7 January 1922 (Roma)

Franco Pian - 16 February 1922 (Inter, Legnano)

Luigi Bosco - 20 March 1922 (Juventus and was imprisoned at Nuremburg)

Osvaldo Fattori - 22nd June 1922 (Inter, Sampdoria, 4 caps for Italy)

Armando Tre Re - 22nd June 1922 (Roma)

Might be alive:

Omero Carmellini 28th January 1921 (three games for Roma)

Vittorio Casaretti 24th October 1922 (Inter when they were renamed Ambrosiana under Mussolini)

Impressive listage.

One name stands out for me - Tommy Docherty is still alive at 89 - must be worth a punt soon and even possibly for main Death List?

I dont really want to suggest him as he is an absoloute hero, but Jim McLean is 80 years old and a long time dementia sufferer.  He has been in a home for at least about 5 years
