I guess this is the right thread.

The well-known Czech illustrator and graphic designer Pavel Sukdolák has died at the age of 96, the Czech News Agency reported.

Sukdolák was considered one of the main representatives of Czech post-war graphic design. He illustrated several books and was the creator of many of the country’s postage stamps.

His illustrations received both Czech as well as international awards, such as the gold medal at the biennale in Florence in 1969.

(Quoting @Lafaucheuse fae Ideas & Possibilities 2022)

some French new names :

____________________

Michel David-Weill, whose gifts of money and art helped transform the Louvre and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, has died at 89. The Louvre said in its obituary for him that he died on June 17 in New York.

This makes Helene an available widow for the Widow thread.

Ah, been on my longlist for some time. He was an insider name who saw a revival in recent years. I thought he had lived longer than could be expected already years ago.

That’s really weird, I was thinking about her yesterday even though I never thought or her before. Just like Trintignant : the Day he died I thought he couldn’t have much more left…

Juhani Palmu hospitalised again (around the fourth time this year) around a week ago with chest pain and kidney failure. He's also been put into a nursing home against his wife's will. Tough guy, he's got atleast 3 or 4 different serious diseases but seems to be indestructible and survives every hospitalisation

Palmu turned 78 today. He got some good health news for a change, as his bladder cancer is gone.

How is a man who has survived two house fires planning to celebrate his birthday? By smoking a cigar and barbecuing, of course.
