Hey, I'm the appointed 'thread police' (I don't know which mod did that, own up whoever you are :scratchhead:), it's my job! :duck:

Since Hein disappeared (:() nothing gets moved by the mods to the correct thread. :banghead:

As a French girl I'd say Charles Aznavour, maybe one of the greatest artists of the past century.

Fascinating.  What would you say as a middle-aged Canadian male?

As a teenage Canadian male, it's probably going to be one of the big names like Stan Lee or Dolores O'Riordan (actually, funnily enough, Dolores did have a home for a time in Canada). I can't think of any huge Canadian name that passed this year off the top of my head like last year we had 2 massive ones (Downie and John Dunsworth).

Stephen Hawking is also a really good bet in my opinion, but I'm basing this all off of cultural phenomenons; Hawking was alluded to in SO many television shows, movies, you name it.

There's just my two cents on this topic .

Without doubt stan lee. I'm not a comic book / superhero fan (accept maybe for batman) but his impact on popular culture and his creation of iconic characters is up there.

However there's always one big death in december. So we'll see.

Robert Mugabe perhaps? (In Norway: Ari Behn - the ex-husband of Norway’s Princess Martha Louise. He killed himself on Christmas Day and there has been non-stop coverage ever since - most likely lasting until his funeral Friday 3. January.)

Worldwide: Karl Lagerfeld or Peter Fonda

In Russia: Yuliya Nachalova (38-year-old pop singer, had gout, SLE and diabetes, died of a cerebral edema, has left a 12-year-old daughter behind).

Tough year, I don't know if there was any A+ death. A- yes, tons of B-list people, probably even more than average, if you look at all the dead drol favourites and DDP hits.

But whose death was in the news for more than a day?

Lagerfeld, Doris Day, Mugabe maybe.

Let's be honest, the most covered deaths were al-Baghdadi and especially Jeffrey Epstein.

For me personally, Scott Walker.

Doris Day and Albert Finney feel like the "biggest" deaths of 2019.

But the wonderful duo of Judith Kerr and Terrance Dicks were by far the most effecting losses for me.

Doris Day then Robert Mugabe in terms of notability but Jeffrey Epstein then Keith Flint in terms of coverage.
