Adverts - you either love 'em or hate 'em

Recommended Posts

I suppose these could go into the "Fings aint wot they used to be thread", however, they are adverts and probably demonstrate that todays offerings really are no cleverer or better than yesteryears.

Those of you of a certain age ( me) will remember these first time round.

Lets go back to the 70s!!

I could never believe seeing the original yescarcredit ads, where people asking will they be able to buy a car - despite a dodgy credit history - were told yes you WILL.

A few years later, the upbeat message is yes you CAN.

I reckon the litigious backlash from their inability to understand auxiliary verbs was behind it. Why didn't they employ an advertising geek with a semplance of basic grammar. ;)

Why in the dreadful Muller Yoghurt advert do they have to squawk 'got my cherry' twice? Could they not think of another fruit? Or was someone really proud of their virginity?

If I was thinking of investing in an ISA, this would put me off. The most irritating ad I've seen in a long time.

Good grief, what were the makers of that ad thinking?

For such horrors they ought to be put in the pillory.

regards,

Hein

I agree, these latest adverts are truly appalling but pale into insignificance against those sodding Go f'ing Compare opera singing twat ads.

I don't care about convention - I'd give her a slap. :D

Why are Halfords offering 50% off all tents and tampax?

'Cause no-one likes bloody campers.

Boom tsch.

Sire, thine coat awaits.

Oh contrare! I watched it last night and found it most off putting. Sorry but far to much corn. Now that would more appropriate if the crisps were corn based rarther than potato based.

You Brits have probably seen this Renault ad a million times but I have only just discovered it the other day:

I fully intend to marry that actress.

Don't know if this one has aired overseas but it just shows that us Aussies have our priorities right when it comes to advertising budgets:
