An article on, and interview with, Baby Peggy, or Diana Serra Cary, the last living silent movie actress wikipedia calls a "star":

(Also some smaller bits about other silent movie actors)

One of the most interesting bits in the article is this quote - "Cary has been in hospital twice since Christmas, with pneumonia. “I haven’t really got much time left,” she says."

Just thought I'd quietly celebrate Lupita Tovar's 105th. Whoo! :birthday:

Dang, I posted in Silent Era because she was mentioned there. Apologies for thread choice.

One of the most interesting bits in the article is this quote - "Cary has been in hospital twice since Christmas, with pneumonia. “I haven’t really got much time left,” she says."

I'd take that quote with a grain of salt. One of the other people mentioned in the article, Lassie Lou Ahern, claims that the journalist twisted her words:

June 18, 2015:

"Hi, my dear fans & friends!

I hope you are all well & happy. I have a situation that bothers me and I think I need to clear the air.

I have had several interviews in the last few weeks with both magazines and newspapers which have reported things

that are not correct. For one interview I was told they were interested in my career and the 1920's. It was an

interview I was looking forward to doing. We had a phone interview and talked about 30 minutes from the making

of my first movie, "The Call of the Wild" at 18 months old right into Our Gang and getting into feature films, etc.

Well, this is the problem... he asked me how I felt. I replied, "Well, I'll be 95 years old the 25th of June. I use

a walker and I have arthritis. I have a muscle in my left eye lid that closed while I was driving one day, but all it

took was proper medicine and a prism in my glasses to correct the problem...and in fact my vision is quite good. I read

a lot without glasses. The reporter said, "One day when she was driving her left eye just dropped out." I said,

"My eye lid closed." He also said I was ailing. I just had to let you all know that I am not running around with a hole

in my face or feeble either. My heart beats like a bongo drum & my breathing astonishes myself & the doctor.

My only problem is that I will be 95 years old June 25. Wow!! I can not believe it!

Love to all! LASSIE LOU AHERN

Mickey Rooney's gone now, of course. Manoel de Oliveira died earlier this year, too.

Lupita's never actually made a DL appearance. I think 2016 would be a nice time for her to make her debut.

Is Lupita famous enough for the Death List though?I would say Baby Peggy was but no one else on this thread really.I suppose it depends on what you would call deathlist worthy.

Woodhead got a mention on the lunchtime news. Not sure Tovar would get that but she would get a UK obit which technically means she would be an eligible pick.

Dickie Moore was the youngest known survivor of silent film, and he was the only person alive under the age of 90. Here's an updated list:

Silent survivors:

Mary Carlisle (b. Feb 1914) First role: 1923's "Long Live the King"
Shep Houghton (b. Jun 1914) First role: 1927's "Underworld"
Fay McKenzie (b. Feb 1918) First role: 1918's "Station Content"
Diana Serra Cary (aka Baby Peggy b. Oct 1918) First role: 1921's "Her Circus Man"
Dorothy Morrison (b. Jan 1919) First role: 1923's "The Champeen"
Silas Hathaway (b. Mar 1919) First role: 1921's "The Kid"
Louise Watson (b. Nov 1919) First role: 1928's "Taxi 13" (Talkie with silent sequences)
Lassie Lou Ahern (b. Jun 1920) First role: 1923's "Call of the Wild"
Jack Edwards (b. Sep 1920) First role: 1921's "I Do"

Jane La Varne (b. Jul 1922) First role: 1927's "That's My Daddy"
Billy Watson (b. Dec 1923) First role: 1928's "Taxi 13" (Talkie with silent sequences)
Kathleen O'Malley (b. Mar 1924) First role: 1926's "My Old Dutch"
Maria Riva (b. Dec 1924) First role: 1928's "Die gluckliche Mutter" (Documentary)
Mildred Kornman (b. Jul 1925) First role: 1926's "Thundering Fleas"

The following people did not appear in silent movies despite a misunderstanding they did:

Lupita Tovar (b. Jul 1910) Appeared in 1929's "The Veiled Woman". The entire movie was shot in sound, though it may have been released in some movies without the sound playing because it was still a new technology by that point.
Nanette Fabray (b. Oct 1920) Denied in an interview that she had ever appeared in a silent movie despite rumours persisting she had.
Gloria DeHaven (b. Jul 1925) Appeared in a 1936 feature called "Modern Times" which is commonly referred to as "the last silent film" but was produced entirely in mono and made after the silent era.
