Surely he was in hospital earlier today and various tweets announced his death. Hope an obit comes soon, he is on my watchlist of decrepit third-world statesmen.

I saw this earlier, though note that the edit killing him off on his Wiki page came before several tweets saying that he was hospitalised, so could be premature.

Many tweets are reporting his death and even giving time and date for the funeral. I could not find any denial. Annoying nothing is showing up from Tanzanian media.

Seems like this "title" now goes to Al Quie, Member of the House of Reps 1958-1979 and Governor of Minnesota 1979-1983 who has also been the oldest U.S. Governor since John Patterson died in june.

Hmmm...

The Italian wiki page for Swiss-Italian actor Paul Müller (en wiki) was recently edited to say he died on 2 September 2016 (aged 93) in Tivoli. The source attached simply says "Registry office of the municipality of Tivoli".

His last credit was in 2015. I'm inclined to believe it, though that's quite a "big" name to die off radar.

This is an interesting case.

His death has finally been accepted on Wiki as per the source here. It says he died from cancer.

What it doesn't say is what users on Reddit have been discussing – he had a 13 year cancer battle and then shot himself in the head at the end of it.
