Ernest Courant, prominent American physicist supposedly dead less than a month after celebrating his 100th birthday.

Interesting background – his father was the prominent German mathematician, Richard Courant. Their family were labelled as Jews by the Nazis purely for their association with Jewish people so they fled to England. After a stint in Cambridge, they then moved permanently to NYC.

Can't see anything on Twitter. My FB is playing up today, anyone able to have a dig for posts?

Don't know but his birthday was widely celebrated. Should at least receive a mention.

British archaeologist Aubrey Burl dead at 94.

Championed the idea that the bluestones at Stonehenge had been deposited nearby by a glacier and merely exploited by its builders.

Very popular in his field, with dozens of tributes Facebook and Twitter already.

Expect him to obit.

An obit from The Quietus.

Still think he will get a QO at some point.

As of now, he's dead only on the German wiki. There's no given source, but the user who edited might be related to the deceased, if the username of "Jörg Zägel" is anything to go by. He also called his edit "a way of mourning" in the edit summary.

Mohammad Shariff, Pakistani admiral who led the Navy in almost every war from the 40s to the 80s and a huge figure in Pakistan history, dead at 99.

Finding source is difficult due to his name being the name of half the Arab population in the world.

Bobby Lewis, 95, American R&B singer.

Don’t think he ever had a UK hit but Tossin’ and Turnin’ was a #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

If the press pick it up quick enough he may get a UK QO.

A Facebook post from his granddaughter seems to confirm it.

Though I don't think he was in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I think she made that part up.

Lewis was the oldest living artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 (started 1958). At a cursory glance I believe Tommy DeVito of the Four Seasons now has that distinction?

Though if you count pre-Hot 100 Billboard, which was then three uncombined charts, Vera Lynn is oldest of all, plus Bill Hayes, Tony Bennett, and Ed Ames are all younger than Lewis but older than DeVito.
