I bet you're all thinking - man, I haven't heard much on dementia this week. So to compensate, a pre-DDP reminder of some big names suffering from the ailment. Yeah its not a sport but its contact theatre and the injuries (and consequences) are much the same, and in the last few months alone Pat Patterson and Mark Rocco have died with it.

Dave Hebner - got diagnosed before 2014, got the "gravely ill" podcast talk about 2-3 years ago, stunned he's still going.

Dave Hebner still around, but not looking good.

One who doesn’t seem to have gotten on our wrestling radar thus far is long time commentator and pitchman for TNA/Impact Don West - he’s been battling cancer for some time, and it’s not looking good. By all accounts, universally liked and respected.

He's on a considerable number of the top teams in the DDP (10) and some of us considered him a 2023 name.

So people don't need to go to the PWI website, the update is that his tumour has doubled in size in 6 month so proposed stem cell treatment has been axed and they're looking for alternative treatment. (As in chemo, not as in alt-medicine.) :skull:

As a huge wrestling fan he’s one of my favorites.

Mike Tenay And Don West are also one of my favorite pairs as well.

I hope he doesn’t go and he gets the 3 count against cancer.

Another of the big FMW names has lost their ultimate death match: Tarzan Goto dead at 58. Was probably the #2 guy in the company behind Onita for a while, and wrestled in ECW as part of a talent swap in the mid-90s as well.

My "favourite" FMW story involves Onita going to Puerto Rico to start a feud with Invader I (the man who stabbed Bruiser Brody to death) which culminated in Invader I kayfabe stabbing Onita. So far, so tasteless. However, the match was called off, when Invader twigged that Onita may have been trying to use the blood feud to get the former to step foot on Japanese soil as a ruse, whereupon some nice men from the Yakuza wanted to have a "stern chat" with Invader about killing one of their favourites!

Was the opener to that feud the match where Onita simulated coughing up blood by having someone at ringside surreptiously pass him a pig's heart, which he then bit down on?

Yes, AFAIK, that and vodka.

Jeff Hardy arrested for DUI. Not even doing the DOA Simpsons gag after the last time and this story isn't going to have a happy ending either. A few months ago, he was fired from WWE for refusing to go to rehab. Signs with their competitors, immediately goes into ladder matches and his old ways...

Looks like while Triple H was recovering from his health problems and Stephanie McMahon was receiving a poor job performance, Vince McMahon might've been sowing his wild oats with one, or more, former employees.  Hush money and more. Also caught up in the scandal is John Laurinaitis, the head of talent relations, who is the stepfather of the Bella Twins and brother of the late Road Warrior Animal. Not so much a health scare, unless Linda McMahon decides to take it out on her letch of a husband.

The most remarkable part is that there's a WWE sex scandal and Jerry Lawler's name hasn't come up.....yet.....

In fairness, he no longer works for WWE, at least he hasn't since that DSOTR episode came out.

Vince, Stephanie and triple H all recently and in recent months been out in public and not wearing their wedding rings.

Apparently Vince and Linda split years ago and who knows what's happening with Stephanie and triple H.

I wouldn't look too much into the Stephanie one, she's frequently not worn her ring in public for at least a decade. She's also a terrible actress so her blatant affection for Triple H since is almost certainly real.

Vince and Linda have been separated for years - possibly even before the Playboy interview in the 90s.

Two former WWE referees in three days. Despite their health issues, still a bit shocking at the proximity of their demise.

For me tim white and earl hebner are the two most iconic refs. Even though Tim hadn't reffed in a long time. Must be tough for Earl losing a brother and a friend within 3 days.

Impact have suddenly announced this weeks TV is to pay tribute to Don West and Mike Tenay, their original commentary duo, so maybe keep an eye out for downturns in the formers cancer battle.
