I never even knew there was a scandal happening.

Impact has put out a video with lots of people sending their prayers to Don West. Still no sign or response from Don.

Everyone's eyes are on Don West, and instead Japanese journeyman Masashi Aoyagi has been counted out at 65. He started in Onita'*s FMW before become a New Japan regular in the 1990s. He switched to NOAH and other companies this century, and had many matches with all the huge stars of Japanese wrestling - Kobashi, Misawa, and so on. His final match was a last summer, when he won a 6 man tag against Onita's team in a Barbed Wire Current Blast, Current Blast Bat, Current Blast Table & Barricade Mat Mine Blast Board Gunpowder Triple Hell Death match.

*Yes, the same Onita who tried to get Invader 1 to Japan for a "match" so the Yakuza could allegedly get revenge for Bruiser Brody's murder.

New photo of Steve McMichael has surfaced.

More interestingly, they want to make accomodations for him to allow him to travel to Nashville to see Ric Flair's final fight.

Chris Jericho hospitalised in Swansea for a sudden "non-covid, treatable health condition" during his Fozzy tour. Now he's in his middle aged spread and still trying to go like he was in his 20s, one to keep a loose eye on.

EDIT - In my defence, I assumed any wrestling news would be in this thread!

Jericho gives an update about that incident above. Pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lung). The clot moved up his throat, getting close to "stroke territory".

https://metro.co.uk/2022/07/11/aew-chris-jericho-was-hospitalised-with-pulmonary-embolism-on-uk-trip-16981173/

Also, pessimistic news on the health of Virgil, who is declining because of cancer, dementia, and now also two strokes:

https://wrestlingnews.co/wwe-news/former-wwe-star-virgil-barely-able-to-use-his-arms-due-to-multiple-strokes-health-declining-from-cancer-and-dementia

However, cancer and dementia are at an early stage. Still, sounds a little Leon Spinks-y.

Michael Elgin arrested again for another suspected case of domestic abuse on yet another ex-girlfriend. (Not the aforementioned scientist wife, who told him to fuck off after the whole "covering up the rape of one of your students" thing came to light, but this is the 2nd or 3rd time stories like this have come out about him with different people.) He also went missing briefly last month.

His story is only going to end one way.

Michael Elgin apparently "missing" again according to Twitter talk, hasn't been seen since July 6th.

Worth noting on Virgil that he used to have a very carny reputation. Anything to make a quick buck off fans. But those who would point this out in the past are basically going oh shit now. Apparently at his last few public appearances, his memory was shot, he kept forgetting why he was there and asking about friends as though he'd never met them. A subdued frail figure, unlike how they were used to. Sounds like quite a quick decline.

Matthew Obbema, who worked the indies for a few years as Matt Sinister from the late 90s to early 2000s, with 45 total credited matches, has died. He was 46. Obbema had been trained by Ross and Bruce Hart. He worked in Southern California.

And yet thumbed his nose at the first two accusations, strutting out on live television several times.  I think this may be more about what hasn't yet been revealed, more-so than the hush money payouts.

Vince is someone who had no hobbies or interests outside of his work for decades, and has cycled on and off steroids for years as well. Seems like a really good pick for 2023.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan is in remission for the third time. Turns out the tough guy he was on about all those years was himself.

Recent group photo of some of the WWWF/WWF 1970s/80s wrestlers. Most still look somewhat as they used to, but Ivan Putski (bottom left) has REALLY aged.

Ivan Putski is 81 now. That's beyond ancient for an old wrestler. Probably gone in next 2-3 years, but then how is Abby still going FFS?

Has Greg Valentine aged at all in 40 years? Doubting it.

Jimmy Hart is 80 next January. There's a man whose looked after his health.

Also, see Luke but no Butch, whose health has been poor in recent years.

According to Wrestlingdata.com, Luke Williams had a match on July 30th.
