I found Roddy Piper to be the biggest shock.

Yeah, I was shocked too but due to his health it was kind of expected in a sort of way given his age.

Brodie was 41 and were in the form of his life just two months ago. Now, dead.

The amount of amazing tweets and comments about him makes it extra sad.

Just look at it:

Also, Bray Wyatt's comments on it is heartbreaking;

I remember him saying in an interview he wouldn't reach 65 and I believed him. Also he'd retired a year before so less of a shock, but Piper was great one of my favourites.

From BBC live reporting: Japan's top-ranked sumo wrestler Hakuho has tested positive for coronavirus.

The Mongolian-born grand champion took a Covid-19 test after losing his sense of smell, the Japan Sumo Association (JSA) said.

Hakuho - the longest-serving yokozuna or top-ranked wrestler in Japan - had been preparing for the New Year Grand Sumo Tournament, due to start in Tokyo on Sunday.

The news comes as Japan considers declaring a state of emergency in and around Tokyo, where virus cases are surging.

A friend of Vince McMahon has clarified rumours that he is in ill health, although it does say he "forgets things here and there", aged, and sleeps a lot since COVID was a thing...

Sir Creep and Vince McMahon have two things in common.

"The Manager of Champions" Bobby Davis has died aged 83. One of the first wrestling managers to find national fame, he escorted the likes of Buddy Rogers, Gorilla Monsoon and Curtis Iaukeau to the ring. Became a bit of a mythical creature to wrestling fans as a lot of his stuff didn't survive to the taped era, and he eschewed most dealings with wrestling for the last 40-odd years of his life (although he was present at the first WWF Hall of Fame ceremony).

Also, Bobby Fulton has tested positive for COVID-19 according to Meltz, so it's very much a case of "will he QO?" rather than "will he die?" for this year's DDP.

Given some of the lesser names in wrestling to get a QO in the last few years, I'd be stunned if he missed out.

Although given they were one of early WCW's pretty boy young teams, going to be odd to have both Fantastics dead.

It's probably earlier in the thread, but is the reappearance of his cancer considered a death sentence?

Often times it is,throat cancer and covid though is a bad combo. I wouldn't bet on his chances

Yeah, the latter is surely not a help, but that may not affect him.  I wonder how serious the throat cancer reoccurence is.  I ask because I have my 2021 Draft coming up with my buddies.  I've tentatively moved him up to 8th on my Wrestler list.

Thanks for that info.  I think I'll keep him in 8th position, behind Mr. Wonderful (naturally) and ahead of Ric Flair.

UFC’s Paul Varelans (wikidead at 51 from COVID complications.

Not a DDP pick but picked elsewhere.

There’s a cage fighter thread, UFC belongs there.

I doubt if he sleeps much, he’s always been a notorious insomniac

I’m aware Sir Nonce. I’ve been here a lot longer than you. He was both MMA and UFC.

Yes, Paul Heyman, then ECW owner, managed to trick him to appear at their event for a "shoot fight", only after he showed up to tell him it was all fake and he was getting choked out in a finish they'd just told everyone was in a real match.

And then he became literally the only man in history Missy Hyatt turned down sex from. What a shitter of a day for him.

Val-Venis4.jpgz

Lot of talk on wrestling boards recently about Val Venis, who has gone full-blown Qtard in recent weeks and even posted child pornography to Twitter to prove... something, idk exactly what. Apparently at one point he was tweeting pretty much non-stop for 48 hours about communists and satan, but he's now been kicked off Twitter so he doesn't have that outlet anymore. He also doesn't exactly look the healthiest individual out there....

He basically went from libertarian hack to covid denialist/Qanon lover so quickly it took folk by surprise. But then he said he disapproved of Martha Hart suing the WWE as "people dying at their work is normal" so you know, even when he was the token smart guy in the locker room he was clearly a few spoons short...

Also to note his batshitness is pretty much the reason hes not been back in WWE since leaving in 2009, despite being their go to hand for new guys for a decade and only being released due to a budget cut.
