At the risk of failing to recognise Heaven's irony isn't it...

"I'm a lumberjack and I'm OK, I work all night and I sleep all day"

Thats what I thought it was when I started to write it out, then I thought " Nah" But I'll try to find out. I've got the German version, but my German is not too good.
This is true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming God;
Could I create myself anew
I would not fail in pleasing you.

  No, it isn't that either.

Very close though
This is true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming God;
Could I create myself anew
I would not fail in pleasing you.

Thats what I thought it was when I started to write it out, then I thought " Nah" But I'll try to find out. I've got the German version, but my German is not too good.

I found a translation back into english of the German version of the lumberjack song.
Really rather senseless if you ask me.

I'm a lumberjack and I feel strong.
I sleep all night and chop all day

I fell trees, I skip and jump
I go the the WC
On Wednesdays I go shopping
And have cookies and coffee

I'm a lumberjack and I feel strong
I sleep all night and chop all day

I fell trees, I eat my bread
Put flowers in a vase
I slip into women's clothing
And lounge around in bars

I'm a lumberjack and I feel strong
I sleep all night and chop all day

I fell trees, wear high heeled shoes
Stockings and a bra
I'd like to be a little girl
Just like my uncle Walter

and here's Google's automatic translation which has a better entertainment value by far:

The Lumberjack song

How are the surviving Pythons keeping? Any of them likely to kick it?

Greetings from Germany,

Reminds me of that great part of the Woody Allen film - Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Sex * But Were Afraid to Ask - the bit with the cross-dressing husband.

While on the subject of lesser known celebs Ralph Edwards is almost 92 years old.

Pioneer in the reality show area, that's enough to want him dead. <_<

IYG, I realise that this site is 'Anglo Centric', but I don't think that Vera Lynn is lesser known. In fact to many Britons of a certain vintage she is almost an icon.

Never heard of Ralph Edwards though.

Well, usually when a British celeb is mentionede here I just look them up, learn about them and shut my trap because I know absolutely nothing on them.

I still think she is a rather obscure person. :referee:

Again, that rather depends on where you live and how long you lived. My guesstimate is that most Europeans exceeding 40 remember Vera Lynn.

I doubt we'll ever meet her, though.

just found this website and I have to say you are rather an unbalanced sick lot. the key to life is to be kind and caring but perhaps you need some psychiatric input. glad I'm normal.

Dame Vera's Deathlist thread is result number one (out of 19800) on the Blueyonder search, which is how our friend came to revive a six-month-old thread I suppose. Personally I don't think any of us are particularly "unbalanced" or in need of psychiatric help, but what do I know?

If you count artistic death I don't think her career has ever recovered from the execrable Dame Vera Lynn in Nashville around the late seventies.
