Report that Mac Davis is dead:

Another one for @Ulitzer95 on the Singles Thread if true.

Wow, tonight is a bad night for singers !

Mac Davis could be as hokey as any of them good ol' country boys, but I've got a soft spot for one of his hokiest, In the Ghetto. But on the whole, I preferred Mickey Newberry.

Don't worry, I'm not going to cross reference him in the Songwriters thread.

As we have known before, hospice in the USA means less than six months life expectancy. His wife wants to keep us updated, so it's probably not an immediate 2-3 day situation. But will he outlast the year?

No longer accepting donations I think is the key line. Was wondering the other day how he was still alive given the extent of the spread.Hospice situation for advanced cancer tends to be shorter than that of some other conditions. Not impossible to last months but unlikely.

Last year, there was some progress with his cancer treatment which led many dead poolers to not pick him. Of course, that's not the case now (and I also think it'll be rather quick)...

Picked him on DDP.Think he will die but not 100% on an obit.

Daily Mail covered his initial diagnosis. Would be stunned if they don't follow up on it.

Brian Coll, a legend of Irish country music, has died. He was 79.

No, he did actually exist. But not quite 'legendary' enough to have a Wikipedia page. More of a leg-end of Irish country music, all in all, I suspect. Those naughty people at the Ulster Herald need to revise the meaning of hyperbole, possibly.

‘Having a Wiki page’ is almost of no value to me as a litmus test for fame.

So, comprehensive reissue for the amazingly good Delta Swete album by reclusive, long-retired and rumoured nut-job Bobbie Gentry (78). Talented to the point she wrote and produced her own stuff when it was virtually unheard of for women to do that; difficult to the point her three marriages combined don't quite amount to four and a half years.

Obitable too but so reclusive the Wikipedia doesn't know where she lives

Anyone know how she's currently doing?
