Means Darius Rucker is now the only living black member of the Opry. Should rush through Lil Nas X's membership to boost numbers.

I posted elsewhere.  I didn't expect him to be posted here.  I still don't.  Anyway, apologies for ruining the website yet again.

Dennis Payne, a singer and songwriter who played a role in the development of the Bakersfield Sound, has died.

Payne died unexpectedly on April 8 in Tennessee following spinal surgery.  He was 71.

Payne, whose father, Charlie Payne and Uncle Leon Payne were well known country music songwriters, co-wrote “Highway Patrol” with Bakersfield legend Red Simpson. They were longtime collaborators.

I trust Deke implicitly. If he has heard Don had passed away, then it's true. Deke wrote extensive liner notes for the Bear Family boxset. Uncanny coincidence, just a short while before I saw this post, I had been listening to Deke's cover of "Ugly & Slouchy" in my car.

Also from the most recent time I worked with Deke at the end of July, he autographed a copy of his book "Strat in the Attic 2" for me

Ah, so it is true then. I suspected it was just a Wiki hoax.

FB post reporting the death of country singer Sue Thompson (wiki), aged 96 (there are many others reporting it on there too though):

"My long time dear friend, Sue Thompson was such a wonderful talented singer, and an even nicer person. ❤

She passed away last night. Thursday 9/23.
She was born Eva Sue McKee, on July 19, 1925, in Nevada, Missouri. She was 96.
I'm so very sad to hear about this, because I will miss her so very much. What a wonderful career she had too. So many favorite songs.
Here's my Sue Thompson scrapbook. Sue & Julie, sent many wonderful things for it, and I've known them for the past 14 years. ❤
I first got a Christmas card from Sue, in 2007. We have been close friends ever since, Sue was such a very dear and special person to me. Her daughter Julie Jennings, is a wonderful kind lady also."

QO chances? Hmmm...
