Poo. He is (was) on my long list...

So that's two people who financially screwed Macca over, dead inside 10 days.

Heather Mills had better watch it!

I had just been reading about Allen Klein in a biography about Phil Spector.

Who was the first person to screw Macca over that died recently?

I think he was responsible for The Verve losing the rights to Bitter Sweet Symphony. Otherwise described as the best Rolling Stones song of the last 25 years.

I rather think that was the fault of the Verve and their producer (Youth.) it was such an obvious sample that wasn't cleared, and that would always be a 100% royalties claim for the original copyright holder. Having said that, Klein was a grade-A tosspot who single handedly prevented loads of good music ever being released properly (Stones, ? And The Mysterians etc.) so I hope he had a painful exit.

"Though I walk in the shadow of the valley of evil, I have no fear, as I am the biggest bastard in the valley." Allen Klein

This might have already been mentioned though I haven't been able to locate it - anyway, Robert McNamara, US defence secretary during the Vietnam war and the Cuban Missile Crisis has died aged 93.

BBC obit here.

The Mothman Prophecies author and Ufologist John A. Keel has heart attack.

http://www.cryptomundo.com/cryptozoo-news/keel-heart-attack/

Sad, sad news. I've met this guy, he's a true freethinker and someone who's written work genuinely has opened minds. The Mothman Prophecies is intelligent and enlightening, in sea of paranormal dross.

Go well John.

Well, he struggled on for a while, but he died last Friday.

John Keels Over.

Very sad, tempered only by the fact he might just know some of the answers he spent half a lifetime trying to find.

Probably not a name too many people will be familiar with Tony Lowe died Sunday, aged 80.

He was a pacemaker for Roger Bannister when he ran the first sub four minute mile.

Chris Gray, amongst other things a 'situationist' so it's hard to know if he's making a statement, or merely dead.

Australia's last living VC recipient from World War II, Ted Kenna, has died, two days after turning 90. That'll be a CPDP update sometime soon.

Also, old-tyme conservative MP Reader Harris has shuffled off at the age of 96.

Dutch Teletext or if you're in the UK Dutch Ceefax) is reporting that renknown Dutch Poet Simon Vinkenoog is on his deathbed. Two weeks ago his right leg was amputated (so in fact technically he's about 20% dead...) but he seemed to recover from that. This evening he was rushed to hospital with a severe brain hemorrhage.

He'll be missed...

Historian, linguist and writer, Ji Xianlin, 97, one of China's leading intellectuals - according to his Wiki page "he currently lives in semi-seclusion in a military hospital." Here's an article about him.

 I demand to wind and rain

will always remain without answer

and the night for me hides

has been light for the blind

in my eyes

nonsense for stupid in my voice

street sounds of beethoven

in my ears

a streetlight late for the drunk

in me to lead search

anemones for the man without olfactory organs

women affected place

free for children without sentences

(for the toothless gulls in my tongue

a pitfall lightship rain cloud)

I always drift back to me

I myself always to top

I always fight with my eyes open

flat with the hands spread falling

grazes to elbows

Google translator
