Spade_Cooley 9,538 Posted April 20, 2017 CUT THE MUSIC Today in 1999, "Ravishing" Rick Rude died, possibly from complications after injecting [a popular drug for enhanced erections blocked by the spam filters] directly into his dick.
Grim Up North 3,727 Posted April 20, 2017 On the Sunday following his death I plucked up the courage to tell my parents that my future wife was pregnant and that the wedding organised for September would need re-organised sharpish. A Benny Hill tribute was on the TV when I broke the news - my dad didn't even flinch and his gaze remained fixed on the TV. I've never talked to him about why he reacted (or didn't react) the way he did but at end of June this year it will be our silver wedding anniversary and our twin daughters will be 25 in November. I had forgotten about the above until I saw this so thanks to The Undertaker. I might ring my dad and ask him tonight.

Grim Up North 3,727 Posted April 20, 2017 With hindsight probably not - but it felt a big deal at the time.

But from the point of view of parents, it would have caused much more consternation 25 years earlier. Interestingly, in earlier times it was usual to wait until the girl was pregnant before making wedding plans! People needed to have children to support them in old age (no pensions or benefits) so couples wanted to make sure they were capable of having children together.
