time 8,618 Posted May 30, 2020 Its now 5 years since I posted the 20th anniversary of the deaths of Ted Drake (82), scorer of 7 goals in one game for Arsenal against Aston Vila, plus the man who first took Chelsea to the League Championship, and Bobby Stokes (44), scorer of one goal in an FA Cup final, 1976 for Southampton (1) against Manchester United (0). Toast 16,144 Posted May 30, 2020 Aw, Bobby Stokes! I remember it well. Some car manufacturer, can't remember which, promised a new car to any player who scored a hat-trick during the FA Cup Final. When Bobby's goal turned out to be the only goal of the match, they decided to give him the car anyway. Hilariously he was the only member of the team who couldn't drive. The car was parked on the centre spot at The Dell and remained there for weeks.

Even then I had this irrational dislike of Manchester United, so really enjoyed that goal.
