Its 55 years since concert pianist Paul Wittgenstein died.

After losing his right arm during WW1, he commissioned composers, including Ravel, Prokofiev and Britten, to write pieces exclusively for the left hand.

 

He was also Ludwig's older brother.

 

His story is also retold in an episode of M*A*SH.

I always thought it a shame that his last TV role was in The House that Jack Built which has to be the worst sitcom ever. Even Gillian Taylforth was too good for it, it was that bad.
