Tom Pryce, off of Formula 1 in the 70s, crossed the finish line 41 years ago, aged 27.

He was killed in rather a grim accident at Kyalami, the South African Grand Prix. His team mate Renzo Zorzi's car caught fire after a fuelling malfunction, and stopped on the brow of a hill. As Zorzi didn't get out of his car immediately after stopping, two track marshalls, the second of whom brandishing a big 18kg fire extinguisher, sprinted across the track, only for the poor bloke with the fire extinguisher (a 19-year-old fellow named Jansen van Vuuren) to not quite make it across the track and be struck by Pryce, who couldn't react quickly enough, at about 180mph. van Vuuren was torn in half by the car, and the extinguisher struck Pryce on the head with such force that it bounced off and flew over the grandstands, and all but decapitated Pryce. Nasty.

I posted this right after I posted Arne.  It was there.  Now it's not.  Well at least you picked up the slack.

I told him I thought he posted in the wrong thread in that thread, but I'm guessing that he blocked me again...

On this day in 1770, a fight broke out on the streets of Boston. Citizens pelted snowballs and oyster shells at British officers as tensions grew. One of the soldiers mistakenly heard "fire" and shot into the crowd that had gathered.

5 civilians were killed on that fateful night: Samuel Gray, Samuel Maverick, James Caldwell, Crispus Attucks, and Patrick Carr.

This famous engraving by Paul Revere made sure that revolution was imminent.

You are not blocked Joey.  Sorry I didn’t see your warning earlier.  Long busy day at work + DPing, I just missed it.

Divine died today in 1988. By the end of his career he actively hated the world of drag queens and considered himself a character actor who sometimes played the part of one.

It has now been thirty years.

Forgive me,  I thought that went  'How deep is your Bruv?'

It is however my day for doing dumb things today, so maybe I'm missing something.

Trade unionist, champagne socialist, terrible advocate of cronyism, sickening hypocrite, truculent activist and fully rigged cunto Bob Crow did the decent thing and exploded his festering, communist heart 4 years ago today. As far as I'm concerned, he can rot in hell*.

Wasn't a fan of his. The sort of cunto that says he's proud to be working class 200 times a day from his yacht, whilst looking upon people earning a decent living that weren't within his circle of trade union cronies as scum of the Earth. Arsehole.
