Hucbald, the Benedictine monk, worthy of note for being one of the first musical theorists, sung his last on this day 1,888 years ago, aged 80. Or 90. People are a bit hazy on that.

Someone mentioned this on my DP facebook page, and I said I recall sitting in the waiting room at the auto air conditioning place getting my AC checked out when the news broke.  So it's the 5th year anniversary of Sir C getting his vehicle's AC fixed.

I was at a Bruce Springsteen gig in Coventry.  They all knew James Gandolfini because Steve Van Zandt was in 'The Sopranos" .  They played the whole of the 'Born To Run' album and dedicated it to Gandolfini.

The one on the right is genuinely Michael Schwerner, and not Antony Costa with bum fluff.

Al Campanis was the first Greek MLB player, and later the LA Dodgers GM.  Got fired not so much for making racial remarks about Negro mental inferiority -- but for BELIEVING it.  Campanis said, "Racism?  It's all Greek to me," 30 years ago (81).

Peter Falk passed away of Alzheimer's disease and died yesterday on 23rd June 2011, nearly five months ago today, at the age of 2011. He has Alzheimer's so might be worth a shout on next year's shopping list. Happy birthday to the legend, I loved him in The Shawshank Redemption.
