One of Bristol’s most loved, wonder if Lucas will say anything nice about him

RIP. Also worth acknowledging his role in A Clockwork Orange where unlike Star Wars he actually had a speaking part. Not many survivors from that great film left.

I guess he didn't follow his own advice:

  1. THINK! First find the safest place to cross
  2. STOP! Stand on the pavement near the kerb
  3. USE YOUR EYES AND EARS! Look all around for traffic and listen
  4. WAIT UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO CROSS! If traffic is coming, let it pass
  5. LOOK AND LISTEN! When it is safe, go straight across the road – do not run
  6. ARRIVE ALIVE! Keep looking and listening

RIP to the big fella, had quite a life.

And by the way, what's this 'Star Wars' and 'Darth Vader' that everyone's going on about?

Actually there's a few more A Clockwork Orange survivors than I realised - Malcolm McDowell, Clive Francis, James Marcus, Michael Tarn, Carol Drinkwater, John Savident and Stephen Berkoff of the main cast.

Shock, horror.  I can't believe Iain hasn't been here in floods of tears.

R.I.P to a legend, although I used to always get him mixed up with that guy who was on Blue Peter and Doctor Who, Peter Purves . On balance I'm glad it's not Peter who's died as I'm more of a Dr Who  fan than a Star Wars fan. If he was on the list I wonder if Death Fader would have been an appropriate headline?  Maybe not.

Not sure what's more incredible - that Savident is still alive or that he was only 33 when A Clockwork Orange was filmed. I note an omission from my previous list that Richard Connaught (Alex's rival gang leader Billy Boy) also appears to still be alive.

Being ancient, I can remember the Kerb Drill which preceded the Green Cross Code.  It was a lot snappier.

At the kerb, HALT.

Look right.

Look left.

Look right again.

If all's clear,  QUICK MARCH!

:D

Maybe a quarter, if James Earl Jones and Hayden Christiansen are called? Kid who played Anakin would make it a fifth....

Anyhow, 2020 looks like it isn't over for major deaths...

I met David Prowse at a signing along with Kenny Baker and he was really nice and down to earth. My grandad and him were both bouncers in the 60s, I told him who my grandad was when I met him and they met up the next day and caught up. RIP

There are a lot of actors/voice actors that have played Darth Vader over the entire story of Star Wars (including whoever played him in Rogue One and the cartoons they did) so I'd imagine the number of people who played him is more around like 9-10

We know, you told us as Wholfofthedead in 2017 and in your current incarnation earlier this year, in this very thread.
