Sir Creep 7,070 Posted April 16, 2023 I blew this off yesterday assuming it was already posted. Deathlist regulars are slacking. A former NHL player has died while playing the game he loved, according to his family. Raymond Sawada reportedly died at 38 years old Monday after suffering a fatal heart attack while playing a recreational hockey game. Sawada played in the NHL for the Dallas Stars from 2008 to 2011. He retired from professional hockey in 2016 and returned to his home in Richmond, British Columbia, to become a firefighter. As someone in my home DP said, he went from being on the ice to on ice rather quickly. SC

Scored the winner in the longest Stanley cup playoff game in 1990 (for the Oilers over the Bruins). Damn. Far too young. Very good player who had the talent to be dynamic and special when the Detroit Red Wings drafted him, but being ‘pretty good’ had to do. Scored 30+ goals in 6 seasons. His name is on the Cup with Edmonton. RIP
