Ice Hockey Players

Curt Ridley, who played a combined 104 games in nets for the New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs between 1974-75 and 1980-81, has died. He was 70. Ridley played the bulk of those games with Vancouver during the 1976-77 and 1977-78 seasons.

Bob McCammon, who spent more than a decade as a minor league player before transitioning to a coach, eventually leading the Philadelphia Flyers in 1978-79 and again from 1981-82 through 1983-84 before a four-year stint with the Vancouver Canucks from 1987-88 through 1990-91, has died. He was 80. McCammon was also an assistant with the Edmonton Oilers in 1985-86 and again from 1995-96 through 1997-98.

That means the head and assistant coaches died 6 months apart.


Whenever they describe a sports figure as a ‘character’ that means they are either really dumb and/or a drunk.  This makes Sir Cunto the biggest character on DL.

Randy Boyd, who played over 250 games in the NHL from 1981-82 through 1988-89, amassing 87 points and 328 penalty minutes, has died. He was 59. Boyd also played briefly with the famed Hanson Brothers, with the AHL's Baltimore Skipjacks, on a line with Steve Carlson aka Steve Hanson (himself dealing with stage 4 cancer).

Emile Francis, the Hall of Fame former New York Rangers coach and GM has died at the age of 95, the team announced Saturday. No cause of death was given.

Ivan Miroshnichenko, one of the top prospects in the 2022 entry draft, is currently receiving long term care for undisclosed 'serious health problems'.

Gordon Kannegiesser, who played 19 games for the St. Louis Blues in 1967-68 and another 4 games for the team in 1971-72, has died. He was 76. Kannegiesser also played 123 games in the WHA for the Houston Aeros and 4 for the Indianapolis Racers between 1972-73 and 1974-75.

Wow, I think the diagnosis was known but it didn't seem that deadly yet.

3 DDP teams thought better though,.
