I blew this off yesterday assuming it was already posted.  Deathlist regulars are slacking.

A former NHL player has died while playing the game he loved, according to his family. Raymond Sawada reportedly died at 38 years old Monday after suffering a fatal heart attack while playing a recreational hockey game.

Sawada played in the NHL for the Dallas Stars from 2008 to 2011. He retired from professional hockey in 2016 and returned to his home in Richmond, British Columbia, to become a firefighter.

As someone in my home DP said, he went from being on the ice to on ice rather quickly.

Damn.  Far too young.  Very good player who had the talent to be dynamic and special when the Detroit Red Wings drafted him, but being ‘pretty good’ had to do.  Scored 30+ goals in 6 seasons. His name is on the Cup with Edmonton.

RIP

Gerry Hart, who played a combined 730 games with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques and St. Louis Blues from the late 1960s to the early 1980s, has died. He was 75. Hart was an original Islander, playing with them in their inaugural 1972-23 season and several years subsequent, but missing out on their early 1980s dynasty teams.

Found this article, about Finnish ice hockey player Pauli Levokari. Only 45 but apparently he has a brain injury, major memory loss, epilepsy and god knows what else. His wife is currently his caregiver.
