Dr_T 254 Posted June 3, 2015 Alan Bond may be the next of a significant number of high profile Australians to kick the bucket this year. http://www.news.com.au/national/western-australia/wa-tycoon-alan-bond-in-intensive-care-in-perth-after-triple-bypass-heart-surgery/story-fnii5thn-1227381513730 It is no surprise that someone who has just undergone triple bypass surgery may be in intensive care, but the timbre of the article suggests that this was not expected and his condition is critical. The corruption allegations and trials of the billionaire enterpreneurs like Bond, John Elliott and Christopher Skase were a defining event of the late 1980s/early 1990s for Australians. Davey Jones' Locker 1,324 Posted June 24, 2015 Scraping bottom kinda like posting stuff been posted 24 hours now?? Lol. Hey I had my doubts but different countries call titles different. Like the guy died today I've no idea what his title means , I assume it's equivalent to Secretery of Education here in the U.S., cuz if it ain't he's a nobody. SC First of all, you posted your retort in the wrong thread, so I fixed that up for you. Second of all, nope, he is just the head of a relatively small university based in Canberra. The Federal Minister for Education and Training, Christopher Pyne is (sadly) alive and well: https://ministers.education.gov.au/pyne Third of all, it is "secretary" not "secretery". YoungWillz 21,058 Posted July 2, 2015 Hmmm, might be being controversial here, but folk don't get murdered by family members for no reason. Fame and/or death isn't a ticket to sainthood. I'll be interested to see what comes out. Rightly this should get coverage over here too. What a state of affairs.

Either that or the son was off his head on drugs or a paranoid schizophrenic or something. Interesting that he [allegedly] attacked both parents.

SC I'll agree with you Sir C on the basis that no-one deserves to lose their life at the hands of another. (Not religious, but from a long line of Church folk - let's not go there). Why I say I want to see what comes out is, for example, was the son protecting his mother from an attack by the father? That might explain why she is injured and he is dead. I didn't want to speculate, but there's your example.
