For those of you interested in Australian Rock, here is a whole smorgasboard of Cold Chisel/Jimmy Barnes songs. You will either love them or hate them. (Apparently our American cousins just don't "get" them at all):

Standing on the Outside:

Cheap Wine:

Forever Now:

Merry-Go-Round:

You Got Nothing I Want (an anti-American rant :( ):

Home and Broken-Hearted:

Bow River:

Wild Colonial Boy:

Saturday Night:

Flame Trees:

Letter to Alan:

The Only One:

Hold Me Tight:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWpzkO47jaw

To finish with, here is one of Barnes' solo songs, "Lay Down Your Guns":

To be fair, it would have been his father who came, if women had to orgasm to get pregnant the population wouldn't be as high as it is.

She survived but we had a drama worthy of Hollywood last night when someone strapped a bomb around the neck of an heiress and threatened to blow her to kingdom come unless Mummy and Daddy paid up. This wasn't a home-made job either; the bomb was so difficult to defuse, the Aussie police had to get your experts on the 'phone:

Yeah that whole episode must have been a terrifying experience for the poor girl, and her family. Lucky everyone came out of it alive and in one piece.

In other health news - the latest on Jim Stynes - that whole club ought to be ashamed of themselves. :D I think this may well be the end of him.

Yes I did read it, not looking good for him at all. As far as "tanking" is concerned, I struggle to understand why a club (in any sport) would intentionally loose in order to pick up the top draft picks for the year. Then come back the following season, and the one after that and the one after that, and perform just as badly as they did before - a waste of young talented players. Number one pick should go to number nine on the ladder.

Doesn't look like the latest round of surgery went very well. :skull:

Surgeons will now explore other treatment options in the fight to save the Melbourne Football Club president after the difficult decision not to remove the tumour. Stynes is recovering after exploratory surgery yesterday with medical staff at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre still grappling with exactly how to treat the remaining cancer.

There was a fairly big/shock death here last night with a well-known television news reporter/documentary maker, Paul Lockyer, and his crew being killed in a helicopter crash:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-08-18/abc-...ke-eyre/2845962

EDIT: Update: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-08-19/top-...ed-dead/2846314

As a point of trivia, it is ten days short of the tenth anniversary of Skyhooks' lead singer Graeme "Shirley" Strachan's own helicopter crash death so we were overdue for another celebrity to go down in one. In a strange coincidence, Skyhooks were inaugurated into the National Film and Sound Archive's historical register yesterday:

http://www.abc.net.au/news/2011-08-17/skyh...stralia/2844238

For those of you who don't know the legendary Skyhooks, here is a good introductory article (doesn't go up to Shirl's death though):

Wouldn't you say the ABC is being just a little self-indulgent with this many obituaries pouring out of their news service for their helicopter crew?
