Seems like he is gone. Pity because I thought he really had a positive vision for Australian and was never ever embarressing on the international stage.

Australian politics is nuts!

The last 5 years have been Rudd-Gillard-Rudd again-Abbott-Turnbull. Better than 5 straight years of Cameron or Blair...

Australia has now had 66 state and federal leadership changes in 13 years! http://mobile.abc.net.au/news/2015-02-10/australia-political-leadership-rollercoaster/6080126

In the sixty years following WWII Italy had 60 governments. Italians said the country functioned in spite of governments rather than because of them.

Well, obviously more exciting. In most European countries (except maybe Italy), you rarely see politicians fall from grace without general elections. I will certainly miss Abbott's earthy sense of humour (concerning the Aboriginals etc.) and his "raw and honest" diplomatic style (shirtfronting Putin and the like).

Turnbull apparently has a bit of a temper so we will see how that turns out.

Tony Abbot is generally regarded as a bit of a dick so it's good riddance all round I guess. Malcom Turnbull is more moderate isn't he? Doesn't matter cos he'll be gone in a few months I guess !

Grover Cleveland disagrees.

No it should still be 5 because in order for Rudd to have done the job twice he was removed and them removed the incumbent in return it is the changes and the method of change that is important when discussing this issue.

Yoram Gross, film producer and co-creator of Blinky Bill (who?), has died aged 88. His family was on Oskar Schindler's list, apparently, but they escaped independently.

Time, you had a very deprived childhood, if you don't know who Blinky Bill is!

I am starting to think about the 2016 list a little...

Who could be the token Australian (besides Clive James)? With so many candidates like Bart Cummings, Ritchie Benaud and Joan Kirner going, there aren't that many left. Some possibilities from most to least likely:

Jeanne Little

Bishop Geoffrey Robinson

Frank Lowy

Lou Richards

Rolf Harris

Neil Harvey

Bob Hawke

Bert Newton

Any other ideas?
