Not in immediate danger, and frankly quite shocking news, but probably worth putting on our radar given the severity: Jennie Gow, BBC motorsport correspondent, has revealed on Twitter that she has suffered a "serious stroke". She says she suffered it two weeks ago, it has affected her speech and her husband had to help her type the message. She is only 45-years-old and, as far as I was aware, very fit and healthy. Long road ahead, and I doubt she'll be involved with BBC Radio 5 Live's F1 coverage this season. Very sad. Details: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-64261533

Max Gutierrez, 20, competed part-time in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2022. His brother, Federico Gutierrez, 17, made his debut in 2021 via the Truck Mexico Series where he picked up a win and finished 3rd in the season standings.

Both drivers were involved in a car accident on Sunday. The fatal accident took place outside of Mexico City. Federico Gutierrez was driving the Porsche Boxster at the time of the crash. They collided with a pickup truck. Federico was pronounced dead at the scene. His brother, Max has been transported to hospital via helicopter but is expected to be released soon.

Watched a video from 2019 where Peter Windsor interviewed Jacques Laffite. Peter mentions that according to Jacques the French racer Jean-Pierre Jabouille has dementia and a few other health problems. Octopus can you confirm this?

Jean-Pierre Jabouille reportedly dead aged 80.

I don't think she'll make DDP fame requirements, but Jacqueline Beltoise, widow of Jean-Pierre and sister of Francois Cevert, is, according to this obituary of Jabouille, in the same hospital/clinic that Jabouille was.

https://www.autonewsinfo.com/2023/02/02/deces-de-jean-pierre-jabouille-412407.html

It mentions Jacques Laffite, the third poorly driver mentioned by Peter Windsor in the tweet (Tambay and Jabouille being the now deceased duo) visited Jabouille last night so he's still active (of sorts).

Aye, maybe a bit flippant of me. Tbh I messed up royally on the DL Cup, thought I'd said I was entering and only realised I'd fucked up when the list of entrants appeared. I was fairly sure they were about as flexible as my Deathrace and I was thinking some motorsport publication or similar would mention her if only because she was married to one GP stalwart and sister to another who would probably have been more significant if he'd survived into 1974 where he'd already been picked to replace Jackie Stewart as #1 driver in the Tyrell team.

They not. Any picks that would be rejected by the DDP are rejected by the cup.

Wonder if Margherita Bandini and Nina Rindt (the widows of Lorenzo Bandini and Jochen Rindt respectively) are still around, there haven't been any news of them for a long time and both women would be in their 80s now. Joann Villeneuve (widow of Gilles, mom of Jacques) is still alive and appears to be well (paid a tribute to him in a video on his 40th death anniversary in 2022).

That brings me to another topic, which F1 driver has had the longest marriage? Sir Jackie and Lady Helen Stewart are definitely up there (married for 60 years). Not sure how long Tony Brooks was married, but an article about his death did mention his wife Pina survived him. Roy Salvadori was also married for a long time as well I believe.

Yes, both still around. Nina Rindt sent a recent strongly worded letter to Tom Rubython who accused her of having an affair with Piers Courage. A copy of the letter is on twitter somewhere..

All motorcycle road racing in Northern Ireland has been cancelled this year due to significant increases in public liability insurance costs.

The same insurance company also covers the Isle of Man TT races - could they be in doubt as well?

Famed Australian driver Bob Muir has died, according to his children who've posted on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/groups/190760908334658

This gives you a bit of a flavour of his career - single seaters and touring cars - https://www.speedcafe.com/2011/04/15/bob-muir/. He doesn't (currently) have a Wiki page, but he was a talented driver.

Ex ABBA drummer and 1980's racer Slim Borgudd has dementia. Has gone downhill quickly since the last time I was in contact with him in Spring.

Slim Borgudd died today. Its on Facebook but will get a better link in due course. And here's at least one - https://f1i.autojournal.fr/infos/deces-de-slim-borgudd-pilote-et-musicien/
